Gods Unchained: My 2nd Tournament (Made it to 2nd round!)

Toxic Banner.PNG

Yeah! I made it past the first round of Toxic Holidays Spectacular. Just to re-cap the tournament rules - Welcome, Core and Order sets allowed but no epic, legendary nor mythic cards. More details in my earlier post.

So, how was my 2nd round? I lost 1-2 😭 When I won the first match, I thought I had a real chance to get to the next round but I was so wrong. Anyway, here is the video of the 3 matches (speed x2 as always). Apologies for the skipped frames in 3rd match video as I needed to tab away from the match for a while.

1st Match - War vs War (Won)
2nd Match - Nature vs War (Lost)
3rd Match - Deception vs Nature (Lost)

So, what went RIGHT? πŸ‘

  • Card draws were decent
  • Cleared board almost every turn

1st Match - Just these 2 points, I was pretty much in control and managed to deal small but consistent damage to the god. When my opponent used Over-proof Brew without any creatures on the board, I knew it was a win already 😻

So, what went WRONG? πŸ‘Ž

  • Made a wrong move for 2nd match (fatal mistake☠️)
  • Not enough damage to take out the creature with Moonlight Charm for 3rd match
  • Did not spread out my creatures under Order for 3rd match

2nd Match - although I am not in control of the board, not all were lost. When I played the Brazen Moose, I should not have chose the Gamekeeper (costly misktake!). The opponent played the Gamekeeper to his advantage and gave me that favor, dealing 5 damage to me. If I had chosen a different blessing or played Charging Oryx or Green Giant, things might have been different. I could have survived and maybe turned the table.

3rd Match - I was struggling to keep up with destroying the creature with the Moonlight Charm boost, especially the 2nd one which really caught me. My creatures just didn't have enough damage to clear the big Nature creatures. Also, there was a turn when all my creatures were under Order and that gave the opponent an extra turn to build up the board.

Closing Words~
Overall, I have to say good performance from Doubtless πŸ‘ If I had any chance of winning at all, it would have been the 2nd match. I have to admit for the 3rd match, I stood no chance at all (once again, lost to Moonlight Charm deck). For now and until the next tournament, time to re-think my Deception Order deck and brush up my Gods Unchained skills!

Happy New Year everyone! Hope 2022 will be a blast for everyone in Gods Unchained! Also, just want to give special thanks to @ocd for featuring my posts in the Curation Compilation #4 and #6 as well as @squirrelacus for curating my posts πŸ™
