Thompson is a very well known farmer. He was hardworking. Every year, he had recorded a huge turnover from his farm produce. When he started, it was just a small parcel of land where he made a nursery of apples and guava plants. Other farmers come to buy the plants for replanting in their farms.

Sooner than anyone could imagine, the small parcel of land turned into a plantation because Thompson bought over every vacant piece of land. Since he had nursed the idea of owning a big farm with workers in it, he pursued this dream vigorously.

He ventured into rearing animals and fishes too. The part of the land where he rears fishes and animals is managed by expert workers while he took control of the crop farm.
Thompson's farm became a reference point for inspirational speakers in major events around town. Old Thompson has become so successful that none of his children took over him.
He had three daughters and a son. Lynda, Maria and Tracy had been married off. His only son Jim would just lazy around and not observe how his father manages the farm.

One night, Thompson called his son Jim to his bedroom.

Dear son, I will be embarking on a journey to Celtic for ten days. So, you will take care of the crop farm.

Jim stared at his father in surprise and said:

But dad, I don't have an idea of what to do on the farm.

Maybe this trip is to make you learn the rules and become more responsible.

Jim became dumbfounded after his father's last statement. He rose from the seat and walked back to his room where he laid in bed but could not sleep.

After two days, Thompson set out on the proposed trip to Celtic. His mission was to allow Jim to take control of the farm and find out what it means to be responsible for something.

Jim rose up in the morning, very early than he had ever done and went to the farm. He started to wet the plants and remove the weeds. He ensured that all the ripe fruits were plucked off from the nodes.

He was happy that he could do what he was doing. As he decided to see what was happening on the other part of the farm, he started hearing the sound of clanging metals.

Jim's curiosity rose. He started tracing where exactly the sound was coming from. Je kept walking further into the woods until he saw a creature, like a dwarf. He hid behind the trees while he watched the creature walking away into the woods.

Could this be a Leprechaun?

Jim asked himself.

He remembers how Mr. Murphy, their literature, taught them a folklore about Leprechauns and how the mystic creatures carry a pot of gold around.

Mr. Murphy had told them that Leprechauns could be mean and at other times, they could be very helpful if one is lucky.
No matter what the case is, Jim thought that he would confront the Leprechaun and see what comes out of it.

Quickly, he hopped towards the Leprechaun and asked that it give him a pot of gold.

Hey bruv!!

Jim greeted the Leprechaun.

Hi!! You look like you lost something

The Leprechaun said to Jim, looking directly into his eyes.

No. Am just looking around and caring for my father's farm.

Jim replied to the Leprechaun in a state of confusion. Then he continued:

I am glad to meet you today. I hope to find favour in your sight.

Now, his intentions have been made clearer to the Leprechaun.

Wow. A pot of gold you desire, a pot of gold you'd get. Dig up the Scot Spine over there, my granny buried a large pot of gold underneath.

Jim could not contain the joy. He ran back to the tools shop in the farm to pick a spade and digger to begin the treasure hunt. As he raced back to the tools shop, the Leprechaun magically increased the number of Scot Spine, they became so numerous.

On return to the location, Jim got confused as to which one of the Scot spines he would need to dig up. They were all very similar.
In his frustration, Jim went deeper into the woods searching for the mystic creature. This is his chance to become a multi-millionnaire

All day long, Jim searched the woods but the Leprechaun was nowhere to be learned. He learnt never to rely on other people's work to earn a living.

Thompson returned from the journey to see his farmland cleaned up and well taken care of, he wondered who could have supported Jim to do it this perfectly.

Alas! Jim has learnt a lesson from the Leprechaun, a lesson learned in the hard way.
