The vagabond dog

The vagabond dog was always on a run. Margret hated it so much, as it was always at her trash can searching for leftover food to eat, thereby pouring the dirt on the trash can. It was a dirty skinny looking dog and unattractive. the fur on its body was falling off. Everyone detest the sight of the dog. Margret hated the dog with passion and always chased it by stoning it whenever she saw it.

Megan street was of the same design and paint color, one could hardly differentiate one house from another. The trees and flowers gave it a decent environment for middle class residents that inhabited the street. The offence of the vagabond dog was defecating indiscriminately on the street and in the door post of the house wherever it passes the night, since it has no permanent place of abode. So it was always on the run as everyone on that street chased it whenever they saw it.

One afternoon, Margret was busy in the kitchen after she had finished drawing water from the well and had forgotten to close the well after she had finished fetching the water. Joan, a seven month old baby of Margret who was supposed to be lying in her room crawled out of her cradle bed and followed through the back door that was wide open. "Who is there ?" Margret inquired, after she heard the back door quirk, but no one answered, she concluded it was the breeze that was shaking the door, unknown to her that it was Joan that moved the door with her body while crawling outside.

Margret who was in the kitchen saw the vagabond dog through the window running toward her compound. She thought it was running to scatter the trash can in its usual manner. She ran out of the house with a bowl of hot water to pour the dog. But was dumb shock to see the vagabond dog holding Joan with it teeth on her pants preventing her from falling into the well that was wide opened.

Margret regretted treating the dog badly. She adopted the dog. And the dog was later known as the heroine dog in Megan street.
