The tradition.

On the speaker was a mix of blues and hip-hop. The sound is so soothing at the same time a great vibe to start up the morning. The smell of fried eggs and toasted bread engulfed the room.

It was the winter season. So It was a cold morning. Jasper had his wool Jacket on as he made breakfast. He was already running late for work. He hurriedly ate the breakfast, switched off the music, grabbed his bag and ran out the room. The bus driver was already honking on the streets.
Luckily he was on time before the driver would leave. He hopped on the bus, greeted his fellow colleagues and the driver and took a seat at the window.

He couldn't contain his joy. Finally he was on his way to work after years of struggling to get one.

Jasper wasn't from a rich background. He had lost his mum and dad as a kid. The memory was so fresh in his mind that he could remember it just like it was yesterday. After months of planning, they family of three had embarked on a vacation trip at the famous beach resort at the western part of the country.

Just a few miles to the location he's dad had lost control of the car and rammed into an oncoming truck. Jasper had survived the crash not without an injury though. He has lost the ability to hear with his left ear and ever since has lived with a hearing aid on his left ear. His parents on the other hand didn't make it out of the crash.

His ailing grandma took him in and ever since had trained him with the little she got from selling vegetables at the local market. So growing up wasn't easy for him. At a tender age he had done menial jobs to survive and also help his ailing grandma pay for his college. He had graduated with good grades but unfortunately for him the job wasn't forthcoming.

He remembered all the promises he made to his grandma. How he had envisaged life will be great for them after he had finished school and gotten work at his dream company. He had bills to pay and a sick grandma to take care of. And when he thought all hope was lost he got a call from the same company.

Now he was on his way to work in his dream company. He was gonna fulfill all the promises he made to grandma.

"You must be the new boy," the hefty man said as he sat beside him.

"Well I guess so" he replied, not sure of what the man really meant. Now all eyes were on him in the bus.

"Welcome to the family, you must be smart for you to be employed here" the man said, reaching out to shake him.

"I believe so," Jasper replied.

"Believe it boy, that's the truth. In our family we only employ the smartest"

"Thank you"

"But for you to be fully accepted in the family, you're gonna do something for us boy. It's a family tradition."

"And what could that be sir"

"He's gonna play a track and you're gonna dance for us," the man said, pointing to the man at the back of the bus with a big music box. Who smiled back at Jasper.

"But I can't dance sir"

" You're a smart son, you can figure it out," he said. Standing up from the seat. "How about we give him some motivation y'all " he yelled to the others. As the all clapped and made noises

He must be the boss I thought. Immediately the music man played some tracks on the music box. It was my favorite music. And before you know it I was on my feet shaking to the tune of the music as they all clapped and laughed. Definitely enjoying the show I was giving them.

I was gonna enjoy it here I thought.
