Julian had never believed in much, and even when he was younger, he would go around telling the other children in the orphanage all the things that he felt didn’t exist.

Due to this, he was tagged as the unbeliever but he didn’t care, to him there wasn’t much to believe in and who could blame him, he was only three years old when his mother died, and even though he prayed to the man his mother taught him to, it didn’t save her and things got even worse for him when his father sent him to the orphanage out of grief.

His past made Julian a very grumpy adult, he never associated with people, or even laugh when a joke was told, his whole life revolved around working and people often whispered when he walked past but he didn’t care.

One fateful day after work, he decided to take a stroll through a different route while going home and he had walked for a few miles before he heard a beautiful voice singing, he was about to move forward when something stopped him, and he figured that a little detour wouldn’t hurt anyone.

He concluded that he should find where the voice was coming from and compliment her because she sounded so good, he followed the sound of the voice through an alleyway and felt a little pain at the back of his head which made him pass out.

Upon waking up, he looked around and couldn’t believe his eyes, he was surrounded by little fairies, gnomes, and elves amongst other creatures, and he kept telling himself that he had to be dreaming because these things didn’t exist.

He stood up and could still hear the voice singing so he decided to follow it until he got to a branch, reaching there, he saw a beautiful lady singing the song which he had heard and immediately he felt an emotion he hadn’t felt since he was younger; he felt like he was in love.

The young lady seeing him smiled and proceeded to drag him by his hand to show him around, they spent hours walking and talking and it felt like he was home.

Days passed and he wasn’t the same person he was when he appeared in the garden, he smiled more, laughed more, and could even sing when the fairies burst into music but there was one very important change in him, he was in love.

He lived like that for almost a month until he started coughing, apparently, he had stayed for too long and it had started affecting his human body so he had to leave, he fought to stay but all the creatures pleaded with him to go and he finally decided to.

He was given some tea and he passed out waking up in the alley way, he walked home and realized that he wasn’t gone for even a day but his life had changed forever.

He went to work the next day, singing and smiling to everyone he saw and most people couldn’t believe their eyes, he was a changed person.

He was about to walk past a coffee shop while going home when he saw a familiar face, it was the fairy princess and she waved at him, he walked into the shop and she said to him “you didn’t think you could get away that easily right” and that was the beginning of their future together.

THE END.
