The Golden Child

"It's truly unappealing for me to be shouted at, simply because the job wasn't done the way you like it".
Jane showed high rate of sadness before her father, hoping that he would amend his manner of reaction whenever Jane fails to impress him.
Jane is the first and only child of Mr Adamu who got married to three wives because, the first two could not bear a child for him. He even tried to get a child scientifically, but that was a failed attempt.
The birth of Jane changed every single thing for Mr Adamu. He willed every single item of his to Jane since she's the only child and hoped that Jane would walk on his footsteps, even after he dies.
Mr Adamu began to incubate his lifestyle on Jane. He made Jane to be the sons that he never had, the daughters that he dreamt of. He even went further to training Jane in field of courses that he never had the opportunity to study in the Universities that he never had access to.
Money was not a problem for Mr Adamu and he had all the connections he needed to make everything available for Jane's academic pursuit.
On the path of Jane, she was just a passenger in her life. She played according to the rule and perfected her father's perfection.
Jane was just rolling like a stone pushed by his father. She never suggested for anything. Her ideas seemed very immature in her father's eyes and never mattered for once.
While in the university, Jane got everything planned for her by her father. They bored her so much to the extent that her friends were chosen by her father.
Though her friends were the best in the university, but she felt incomplete without her choice of friends. The five of them were the most intelligent people in the university with grade points of over 4.8, but lacked manners of approach. They were the pompous type, the type that takes people for nothing, just because of the father's wealth and their high level of academic success.
Whenever Jane sees others hanging out with their friends, it bothered her on what life will be after the University days. She requested for more real friends, but her father denied her of that, but assigned her many tasks in the science laboratories.
She graduated in flying colours and was funded to do her Masters in an Australian University. She concluded her Masters program in style and headed back home for an automatic job employment in the University.
She got employed and wanted a life for herself outside of his father's convenience, but the reverse was the case.
She was tasked with taking care of her father's properties scattered all over the country, same as doing her normal lecturing job.
She did these jobs everyday and all day. She never had time for herself. Everyday was like a repeat of yesterday and nothing seemed new to her, since it's all about lecturing students with the same course outlines or similar ones and having series of lawyers bargaining prices for doing their arguments.
She got bored by these repeated events and wanted a better life, a lover, a hubby, a family to be precise.
She headed home to let her father know about her thoughts, but that was rejected on instance. She cried to sleep in her room, but her father never cared because, he thought that he was doing the best for her.
One day, Jane broke free from the bondage. She left the house without leaving a single notice for anyone.
She moved to a new city, far away from home. Renting an apartment would raise flags for her father to easily pinpoint her new location, so she lodged in different mortgages.
She lived this life for several weeks and never felt comfortable in it, but it gave her some freedom from her father.
After 3 months of living the free life, she decided to pay for a hotel in an unknown location where she could have access to internet services. The hotel was built outside of town for those who which to enjoy their vacation in the rural areas.
She lodged in the hotel for two weeks and paid for one more month.
Staying in the hotel relieved her of everything that bothered her. She found some good friends in the hotel who also ran out of their father's shadows.
They partied all night and slept almost throughout the day.
Jane began to live the wayward life, a life which no one would ever think of for her.
This got the hotel management worried because, her father sold the hotel to them in order to obtain favour for her Masters program in Australia.
One night, Jane decided to try something new. She paid for a plate of weed, a known source of inspiration for drug addicts. While the item was being sourced for, her father stepped in.

"Jane!"
"What on earth are you doing here?"

She busted into tears which got many people's attention.

"Dad, am tired".
"I'm exhausted".
"I want a better life for myself".
"I'm tired of living your life".

Her father felt so bad and embarrassed in the public. He ordered the hotel management to pack her belongings to his car.

"Jane, let's go home".

Bringing her only daughter from a far away land wasn't funny for him. He was so worried about her life and what would happen to her if she decides to take another race.
The next day, Jane requested for permission to visit the market in order to buy some necessary items for herself.
Her father rejected her request, but requested that she meets him at the office while their househelp shops for her.
Jane reluctantly went to the office to see her father.
On getting there, her father offered her a seat in front of many files. She was asked to pick from the files without a label.
She picked without a single atom of guess.

Jane: "Dad, what's this?"

Mr Adamu: "That's your new apartment"

Jane looked at the address and smiled back to her father, saying lots of thanks.
Jane later got married to a lawyer who helps her to look after her father's properties nationwide.
