George looked at his with a puzzled look on his face as if she had said something horrendous and unthinkable.
His wife was still speaking when he burst into laughter, his wife looked at him and asked
What's so funny?
He stopped laughing when he noticed the seriousness in his wife's face, he said in a low tone
So you're serious Martha?, why do you want me to do dry fasting for two weeks and it's from 6Am to 6Pm daily??
I want us to do the dry fasting for two weeks because we need God to answer our prayers and others are doing it even the food loving Mr Vincent James and his wife will participate so there's no excuses for us.
Honey listen, just because others are doing it does not mean that we should too so please i beg you count me and the kids out of it
The kids won't participate because it's meant for adults only, you did not participate in last year's fasting and you promised me that you will participate in this year's own so please fulfill yiur promise.
Alright i promise you but you also have to promise me that at the end of each day you will prepare a sumptuous meal for me.
Martha had to agree, at least he was going to do it which means that she could boast to other women that her husband participated in church activities unlike most husbands.
The first day of the dry fasting arrived and as promised George participated fully to the happiness of his wife who prepared a heavy meal at the end of his fasting.
The next day being Monday George left for work after promising that he would not taste either food or water which he surprisingly kept to despite the temptations at work.
That day his boss decided to host a party for his employees and as expected food and drinks were plentiful that day.
He watched his colleagues eat and drink with so much anger but he could not do anything about it.
When he got home, he demanded that his wife would prepare a more heavier meal because he wanted to eat his heart out and Martha obeyed happily.
The third day, George went to work again on an empty stomach but this time around he was determined to break the fast without his wife Knowing because it seemed that everything and everyone around was tempting him and he could not resist.
Every Tuesday his wife who was an author went to the market for restocking some household items and she won't come back till 2pm in the afternoon.
His lunch break was by 1pm so he figured that he would buy buy food to eat at home then freshen up and disappear before his wife returned.
His plan worked and by 1pm on the dot, he was at home chewing on a big piece of chicken lap, he was about to round up when his wife opened the door to thier room and caught him red handed.
It turns out that his wife finished up early in the market and when she came back and saw her husband's car packed outside she was a bit shocked so she went straight to their room to meet her husband munching hungrily on a big piece of chicken.
He tried to explain himself but his mouth was too full so he just spoke gibberish.
Martha shaked her head as if she had been expecting it and she said
Well at least you lasted two days which is not easy, we will try again next year.
George looked at her and smiled before he continued munching on the meat.
