A MISUNDERSTANDING FROM THE PAST

Frances and Elisa's hate for each other grew everyday and it seemed to be blossoming like a flower in the morning.

The animosity between the two was quite visible even to little kids and even though they did not speak to each other at all, you could feel the hate from a distance.

Their husbands who were ironically very good friends tried to get the other to open up and confess what had transpired between them previously but all attempts hit a dead end.

To matters worse they were close neighbours and thier kids played together and often visited each other's home freely because they believed that there was no need to drag the children into their quarrel.

They were several speculations that the two of them knew each other in the past and somewhere all the line something transpired which lead to the present silent hatred.

The strangest thing about all these was the crazy similarities between them, for instance they were born on the same year, day and month and each time their husbands tried to get them to celebrate their birthdays today, they would sharply decline the offer by saying

I will never celebrate anything with that witch.

Their husbands were named Simon and they were both lawyers that worked in the same firm, they had four kids each who were of the same ages respectively.

All their husbands and in fact the entire neighbourhood could do was pray and hope that they would talk it out with each other because apart from the beef they had with each other, they were amazing human beings who were beloved by all.

One Saturday morning, Frances hurriedly made her way to the car because she wanted to go shopping to get the things that were needed at home and if she went late the shopping mall would be filled with people because it was the weekend and weekends are meant for shopping.

As she was about to enter her car, Elisa hurriedly came out and rushed to her car because she wanted to go shopping too, they glared at each other with so much hate and anger.

Frances backed her car into streets and just as she was about to reverse, she mistakenly jammed Elisa's car because she was also reversing so they did not see each other.

Elisa stormed out of her car and walked menacingly to Frances who came out to see what had happened, Elisa went straight to Frances and gave her a thunderous slap and shouted.

The day of RECKONING is here, i will take my pound of flesh on you today for your wickedness.

The slap shocked Frances but when she recoverd she returned the favour with an equally thunderous slap.

All hell broke lose as both women engaged themselves in a fierce battle, slaps, punches, hair pulling, scratching, screams and rolling on the floor ensued as they both let out all the hatred on each other.

People came out and separated them, someone called their own and within a few minutes everybody was present and were demanding that they let the cat out of the bag.

They initially refused to say anything but after much pressure from everyone including their husbands they opened up, Frances who was the calmer of the two narrated their story.....

They were childhood friends who were regarded as the twins from different parents and they behaved like twins.

They wore the same clothes and went to the same school and were even in the same class from my creche to college.

The trouble started shortly after they both graduated from college, they studied nursing and even made first class but Frances was the only one that could get a job.

Elisa tried and tried but she could not find any so she got to a job as a janitor in a high school.

Once day while she was working, her phone vibrated and when she picked it her mother shouted

Elisa your dad is dying and the hospital refused to treat him if we don't deposit cash!!!!!!!

Elisa screamed and without second thoughts she abandoned her work and ran to the hospital to see what was happening.

Her father was diagnosed with cancer of the brain when she was in college and he had been in the hospital since then receiving chemo but after sometime the doctors stopped because they stopped depositing money.

The doctors refused to treat him until they deposit money so she called her friend for assistance as she was the only child but she did not pick up the phone.

Elisa called many more times but she did not pick and after a while, her father passed away.

Elisa was heartbroken as she felt that her life was a mess because her dad just passed away, her best friend betrayed her and she did not have a good job.

On Frances part, she said that her phone was on silent mode because she was on an important meeting and she called back immediately when she saw the missed calls.

She said that Elisa stormed to her place of work and made a huge scene blaming her for her father's death and even hitting her a couple oof times but she did not retaliate because she felt that she was hurting, Shortly after Elisa's outburst Frances was fired and she got angry at Elisa for causing her career to stumble because her career was never the same and also blaming her for her father's death despite trying many times to explain her side of the story.

People understood happened, it was a big misunderstanding and instead of having a dialogue, they kept it to themselves and suffered in silence.

An elderly woman that was present said

sometimes dialogue is the best way for settling disputes, if the two of you had talked it out this matter would not have lead to this.

The matter was then settled and Elisa apologized to Frances for blaming her for her father's death and Frances in turn apologized for not getting angry at her instead of understanding her situation.

They hugged each other super tightly much to the delight of everybody and the youngest child who was barely three years old said

Finally, peace at last.
