Julie and the mystical being// The inkwell writing prompt

Julie, a girl of 7 ran into the dense forest that surrounded where she lived. Her sobbing echoed in the dark. She was angry at her mum who had refused to get her the Christmas tree. She sat on a log of wood and wept , not minding the chirping and howling of birds in the dark. Her attention was drawn to the illumination of light from a distance that looked like that of a tree with disco lights round about it. Her sobbing seized as she marveled at the beauty of a small hut close to the tree, she wondered who had set it up at this time of the night. She sneaked through the woods and hid in a big tree trunk to observe what was happening in the hut.

She jerked as she felt a hand touch her from behind. Her eyes widened, and her body stiffened as she saw a creature that looks like a human with long ears and nose standing before her. It looked like a dwarf except for it's features that differ from that of a dwarf.

"Julie," the creature said.

"Who are you?How did you know my name?" She asked, still tense.

"Your sobbing had woken me up from my place of rest and I decided to come check why a little girl like you would be crying".

Julie remained quiet wondering how the creature had known her name. She was about to ask when the creature gestured her to follow him. Reluctantly she followed the creature to the hut. The hut was filled with wrapped boxes and on them was written "Wishes". She looked around and nothing looked fascinating on the inside like it was from the outside.

"How did you know my name?" she finally asked.

"Your weeping was loud and I couldn't snub it but find out who was alone in the forest at this time of the night crying"

"My mum had refused to get me a Christmas tree," Julie explained.

"What do you want for Christmas?" The elf asked.

"A Christmas tree," she said.

"Is that all that you want?" The elf asked "The box you pick will determine what you get for Christmas, go select a box from the boxes on the shelves and open it, whatever you see is the best gift for you for the Christmas"

Puzzled with which box to choose, she looked around. All the boxes looked the same, she could only wish for luck in the box that she picked.

She picked one of the boxes but before she could open it she heard her mum's voice calling in the distance. Quickly she hid the box she had selected.

"Goodbye," the elf said to her.

"What's your name?" she asked.

"Call me lukman" the elf said.

Happily she ran to go meet her mum, she looked back to wave at lukman and did not see the hut there again nor was there the glowing tree. Amazed, she kept staring at the direction as her mum dragged her home.

She couldn't wait to open the box. To her amazement it was a bead necklace with several colors. She couldn't have wished for more. She smiled broadly, waiting for Christmas to show her friends what she had gotten.
