Shelby sat still as he stared down his opponent, he knew his next move and there was only foreseeable future so he kept his cool to try and put his opponent on tension. The crowd was quiet as they waited for the player to move. He took his knight to E5, then Shelby gave him a smile as he said,"Checkmate". The crowd shouted on top of their voices as the class of 94 had their new chess champion, they carried Shelby as they sang praises for him.

Timothy looked at all his grandfather's awards and remembered all the stories that he had attached with all the trophies and pictures. He stood there motionless as the noise of the life monitor filled the room. It was the only sound you could hear from the hospital room.

Shelby had been diagnosed with brain tumour and had been taken in by the hospital as he didn't have long to live. The pain of lossing his grandfather hurt Timothy so much because he grew up with him all his life and they both shared the love for the game Chess. He didn't like to see Shelby like this, so walked out once a nurse entered the room. Timothy knew that the enviable was going happen but he had a hard time dealing with it. He went to see a seer for instructions on how to beat dealth.

Mama Mari burnt a sage and poured it around a globe, she told Timothy that he would have to gamble for his grandfather's life. He would have to play whatever game Death wanted and come out victorious if he wanted to see his beloved Shelby again.

Timothy saw himself as he sat on a table; the player in front of him wore a white suit, he carried a walking stick that was shaped like a crow and he had a skeleton for a face. He stared at the Chess board and moved his pawn to D3 as waited for Timothy to make a move. Timothy took a deep breath as he realized he would have to play for his grandfather's life. It was a temptation he couldn't resist.

The End.

If you don't know your destination, many roads can lead you there- @adaopara
