Violence only breeds more violence, why not settle for peace

While growing up, my parents raised me to believe and understand that everything can not be solved through violence. Violence leads to more violence, because when you are fighting someone you will want to hit the person not the person hitting you last. There is this my neighbor with three kids, two out of her children like to retaliate you can not hit them last when you're fighting. I have tried to teach the boy to always accept apology when someone apologizes but all my teaches falls on deaf ear, so when someone beats him, he will beat back and the person will beat him again and the cycle continues.

This is the same thing in a war, the cycle of violence does not stop. So to answer the question for this weekend:
**Will I go to defend my country in war if drafted? **
No, I will not go to defend my country. I will rather face jail time than take up arms to defend my country and loved ones. My family will understand my reason so they won't be angry at my decision. Violence leads to more violence, why waste human life when everything can be sorted peacefully and quietly..

I can not subject myself and my family to the aftermath of of war, the trauma that follows is something I can not deal with and I do not wany my loved ones to face such trauma. I have not been to war neither have I seen someone who has been to war but I hear the stories of how it is at the war front and the trauma that follows and I am not ready to face such trauma or subject my family to it.

I know that my decision not to go to war will lead to public backlash and imprisonment, I have to stay true to my values, so spending time in jail is a sacrifice I'm willing to make. I believe that if more people took a stand against the brutality of war, perhaps humanity could make greater steps towards lasting peace and conflict resolution. Bloodshed only breeds more bloodshed - the cycle must be broken through non-violent resistance.
