Hello adventurous friends! Wow, it has been a very hot weekend, and nothing better than spending a day in some of the highest points of Portugal, we believe that being summer everything is "heat" but for example here in "Madeira" we can visit this viewpoint very famous and experience a climate of 10 degrees, in addition to the beautiful view of the city of Funchal and at the same time the mist between the mountains give us a beautiful landscape! Start of my adventure🙇♂️🌲🧭🌍
My Saturday adventure starts here in this hidden place on the island of Madeira! As you can see this "natural viewpoint" is located between a mountain range, at this point we are almost at the "highest point in Portugal", in winter we can run into a lot of snow but in summer it is a beautiful and magical place to spend a refreshing weekend away from the heat of the interior of the country! few know but Portugal has many "microclimates" to offer us! Despite being a country with a hot climate, there are also mountains with more than 2000 meters of height!😋😎🥵🥶🤪
To get to the "Miradouro pico alto" basically we must make a small "trilho", a "trilho" is the translation of "path in English" and as you can see we must follow a route marked with a small "flag" that will indicate us which is the right way to reach our destination and thus avoid getting lost! It is very common to see tourists doing this adventure in winter because of the weather, but in summer they all go to the center of the city! so as you can see it was a very quiet ride away from the crowd of people!👨💻👨🦯👩🦯🚵♂️🚵♀️
I am a person along with my wife who loves to enjoy nature and all the benefits it offers us! among them is to take advantage of the "secret" sites to get away from the city and the tourists that fill the country in summer! we are more than 1100 meters high, and being so high we can enjoy beautiful panoramic views and practice our "photography skills", here we can see two places "the city of funchal and Chão da Lagoa" are two very beautiful tourist sites that I recommend you visit if you come on vacation to Portugal😲🌍
A walk of 800 meters🙇♂️🌲🧭🌍
From the starting point to the viewpoint we must walk 800 meters, it is a short, easy path! it is not a trail that requires any skills! It doesn't require a lot of physical resistance either, I think it can easily be visited by the whole family! in winter take precautions because this place can be very cold and quite slippery because of the snow! That's why the best height to visit it is in spring or summer! to get there faster you can use the "Ecological Park of Funchal" as a reference point👨🏫🌿🍀🍁🌲
The "miradouro pico alto" offers you the opportunity to do various outdoor activities, from picnics to paragliding! It is not a small place that will surely serve you to spend a weekend with your family! If you are a tourist then it is a place that will serve you to make a small stop! since going through it takes less than 20 minutes! if you are going to visit the "pico arieiro" then write down this viewpoint I promise you that you will not regret it!👨💻👨🏫🚵♂️🌄
In my short stay in Portugal I have already visited more than 50 viewpoints or probably a few more! and this is one of my favorites, because you are walking on a dirt road surrounded by mountains and it gives you the feeling that you are in a "valley", as you go up the landscape changes and you have better views of the city as well as the weather gets colder!🌍
This area is mountainous and we are more or less 13 kilometers from the center of the island! while researching on the internet about the park I saw that there is a meditation area, and where you can do activities such as "yoga", the viewpoint dates back to the 90's is not very old and was recently remodeled by the city chamber turning it into a place of touristic interest! This whole area has an extension of more than 10km👨💻👨🏫🤪
After passing the Picnic area we are 100 meters from our destination! Today it was very windy and we were quite cold! who would say in the middle of summer! but it is what we were looking for we live a few kilometers from lisbon and the weather there is very hot! While some people take advantage of the weather to go to the beach, we run away to go to the mountains!🚩🧭🌍
It was worth the walk, the view is beautiful, and we can see in the distance the city center and the majestic Atlantic Ocean! without a doubt it will be an activity that we would repeat and the next time it would be more fun to bring materials to carry out a "barbecue".
