Hi friends!!
Yesterday was fathers day in the US, so we wanted to have a fun day with the kids. In the morning I took my youngest son skateboarding, afternoon I helped my oldest son to paint his room. And at night we decided to go watch the new Pixar movie, Lightyear, at the drive in theater. We haven't been there in a few months, and we love going there. We park the car with the back to the screen, open the back door, laydown the seats and use the back of the car as a bed with some pillows and blankets. I also bring a couple of chairs to put outside, as all of us don't fit in the back of the car.
We started going to the drive in when we moved here to San Diego. The drive in theater brings back a lot of memories for me. In Rio de Janeiro, where we used to live, I think there was only one drive in, located at Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, that operated from 1966 to 1993. After that one closed, I think there were no other drive in theaters at all. So before going to the drive in here in San Diego, we haven't been to one in many many years. You can read a little more about the old drive in on this link here.
Here are some pictures of the South Bay Drive In, and as you can see, we got there almost at night, movie starts right after sunset at 8:30pm. Even though we brought some snacks (also sneak in a couple a beers 🤫), I bought a popcorn and a couple of churros at the snack shop.
The movie was awesome and the kids loved it!
This is my entry to the Show Us Your California contest, organized by @thesocalhive.
Hope you enjoy it!
See you next time!
