It’s another Monday! I used to really dread the first day of the work week but little by little, I’ve been trying to change my mindset. Now, I try to be more grateful for every new day.
One way I’ve practiced to get a better outlook is by reflecting on the weekend that was. Acknowledging small triumphs over the weekend places me in a good mood, and this weekend was no exception.
Since I only have a 4-day workweek, my weekends begin on Fridays! (Fun, right?) My husband @thejoeprocess and I met our friends over lunch to catch up. It was also their way of celebrating hubby’s birthday belatedly since they weren’t able to spend time together then.
The initial plan was to go to our favorite pungko-pungko place by our alma mater. But just as we were preparing to go, there was a heavy downpour. (Bummer!) I was really looking forward to that meal since it’s been a long time since my last visit.
WAITING for our friends and for our food.
Beef Bowl Teppanyaki for me
Chicken Ramen for the hubby
Cheezy Gyoza as additional side
Anyway, our change of plans brought us to Ayala Center Cebu. Due to the rain and the cold weather, the hubby craved for some ramen instead. Hence, we explored and ended up in Teriyaki Boy at the Terraces.
Trying that restaurant out was a lovely surprise! Since we’ve been to many ramen places, we really didn’t have high expectations for this one. But the food turned out great and we really enjoyed our meal.
After lunch, it was time for my real destination. (haha) Every time we go to Ayala, the husband knows that I must always go to Fully Booked--my favorite bookstore.
ANOTHER CRAVING. Browsing the thriller shelf.
BROWSING. I could spend all day in a bookstore, just browsing and reading the synopsis of books. And do it multiple times more until I’m tired.
REACHING OUT. I am reaching out for the book One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston. I was really tempted to include this one in my purchases but I stopped myself since I wanted to read Red, White, and Royal Blue first, the author’s debut novel.
My order for Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King arrived last week, so I wanted to buy the two remaining books in the trilogy with the book covers that I wanted. Of course, I couldn’t help myself and gave in to buying an additional book: my first Agatha Christie. Considering that I love whodunits and thriller mysteries, it’s time that I finally got my own copy of Ms. Christie’s And Then There Were None.
If you’ve read this far and you think you have misread the title... I’m telling you, you didn’t. There was indeed murder over the weekend, but thankfully just the Netflix show kind.
We stayed home all Saturday and binge watched the season 3 of You. I watched this series in 2018 when it first came out. The husband gave in to watching it as well since he liked the premise.
The verdict? It was worth the wait! The husband and I agreed that the suburban setting and domestic vibe helped it to not become repetitive of the past seasons. Though the main argument by some is that it’s toxic and gory, what else would you expect from a show with serial killers?
If you don’t mind murderous attractive people and gory scenes, then maybe this show is for you too.
After attending mass, we went to SM Seaside to pick up some groceries. While there, we decided to try out Black Dragon to see what the fuss was about.
CONVINCING. This giant milk tea outside Black Dragon was the thing that tempted my husband in craving for milk tea that night. Hehe
ENDORSER. We had the outdoor dining space to ourselves as we enjoyed our milk teas. However, even though we liked it better than other milk teas we’ve tried, nothing still beats my favorite strawberry taro cheesecake from @morenatravels ‘ The Teacup.
If you’ve read this far, thank you very much for taking the time. I appreciate you.
