Fire Scare at St. Patrick's Square

This is a weekend memory pulled from years ago when we went to attend the morning Sunday mass at St Patrick's Cathedral in Auckland, NZ. The Cathedral is the mother church of the RC Diocese of Auckland and is strategically located in the city's CBD on its own compound called St. Patrick Square.

According to Wiki, the Cathedral was founded in 1841 and the current church building was established in 1907 so yes, it's over a century-old!

Anyway, when we arrived at the square, the Priest was already there and was catching up with a few church goers by the entrance. At least we were not late, lol!

I took this shot as we got closer to them in the main entrance. This was on a November by the way, it was spring on the country's season and that particular morning was just so awesome.

I'm digressing too much.

I don't exactly remember how it began but while we were inside and mass was going on, the fire alarm sounded so everyone rushed outside to different directions. Some across the road from the main entrance, others on towards the left side of the square and we found ourselves by the right.

The Fire Service came quickly so I was very impressed of how efficient they were. It adds that the Central Fire Station was in the CBD too so it's in proximity to the location.

After the firemen checked and declared everything was safe, we went back in to continue with the halted service. It was a false fire alarm and I now wonder what caused it, oh my memory fails me so I guess it is good to post it this time on the blockchain while there's still some remnants in my memory bank. It was a bit of an experience for me.

Took these shots after the mass as we left.

And whilst my friend went to another place on an errand, I decided to go for a walk along Queen Street where I had some moments with the winking Santa.

From there I proceeded to Victoria Street towards the Sky Tower. More on that will probably be shared on another time.

By the way, how are you today?

It's a rainy Saturday here in my side of the world. It's been so for a few days already. It seems the Habagat season finally came and we expect more monsoon rains throughout the month. I hope it won't last long though, excessive rain often makes me feel so down.

Cheers to the weekend everyone!
