After the Israelites conquered a territory, some of the ruins which were supposed to have been burned were stolen by a certain man. The Israelites consulted their God and realized they suffered defeat afterward as a result of the man's action. In order to avert a curse that was upon them, they stone the man and his family to death. The action taken by the Israelites may seem harsh and ungodly, you may curse them for what they did until you understand the lasting effect certain acts can have. Outbreak of any disease starts with just an individual before it's communicated to several others, so are capital offenses.

Capital punishment is always given to people who have committed a critical offense such as murder. One evil with certain habits is that it spreads if not tamed. One who commits murder is likely to commit another if given the privilege. Bad habit spreads, one evil man can corrupt a multitude of good people and the demon within him can be passed down to generations.

If the monsters men had made out of themselves is allowed , they may never turn a new leaf , rather become a threat to people.
Capital Punishment are given to first propagate fear from crime and to hinder the spread of negative spirit/habits among other individuals. No one can give life but laws are put into place to maintain orderliness and peace. It's unfortunate that a group of people find pleasure in the misery of others. If certain actions are not taken for certain offenses, the rate at which crime happens may be overwhelming. If a man is sentence to death as a punishment for a particular crime, the demon he had made dies with him, else, it lives and pollute the heart of peace loving people.
