HOMESCHOOLING

Homeschooling refers to getting direct education from parents or guardians from the comfort your home. At some point having to hear different stories coming from Elementary or Highschools is really devastating and would make a parent want to homeschool there children by themselves.
Some few months back, I came in contact with a friend who has three kids, the eldest child was three years old but he couldn’t pick up a pencil to write down anything, he could talk, he is a very smart kid but why couldn’t he write down any letters?
This got my friend angry, she said she has decided to homeschool the boy till he gets to age 5, because she wouldn’t have not paying so much money in an elementary school whereas her kid wasn’t really doing well. So she took it upon her self, got the topics of toddlers and started teaching him, she was patient with him and now he is doing way better than when he was going to school. I asked her if she made any rules because of course she is his mum and there would be some of leniency, here was her reply;

RULES

There is time for everything, when its time for his lessons, he must write and read, although she was very patient with him as he was unable to write down anything in school, she gives him assignments at the end of lesson, he is not allowed to play around, watch tv or play with his tablets while his is going, she taught all the subjects he was being taught at school such Numbers, Letters, handwriting, creative art, health habit, rhymes etc.

ADVANTAGES OF HOMESCHOOLING

For parents its more like a bonding time for them and there kids, you get to see and notice how your child/children respond and catch up to things, you get to see where the child is lacking behind and help them while also being patient with them, homeschooling also gives the parent freedom to fix their own schedules and the lesson time flexible, It also puts a stop to unnecessary competition among their peers, and also less pressure on the parents in the sense that it lessens deadline projects, assignments and compulsory extracurricular activities.

DISADVANTAGES OF HOMESCHOOLING

One of the most common disadvantages of homeschooling is that child feels isolated and won’t get of enough socialization, some of the parents who homeschool might have little or no experience of teaching so it might not be as professional as the teachers in school which may lead to difficulties in choosing the right activity or curriculum for the child, some parents find it hard to engage the child in the activities as they tend to be lenient and don’t even have most materials needed for the activities.

Homeschooling comes with different challenges but with patience, positivity and organization, the decision can be rewarding.
