The right tunes...what gives?

Music has long been defined as the combination of pleasant sounds that are melodious to the ears and also it is the food for the soul. Well, the kind of music that is food for my soul should make a lot of sense. I don't just listen to any kind of music because some music are simply horrible to the ears.

Good music

What qualifies as good music for me is the ability of that musical piece to resonate deeply with me emotionally and intellectually. From the beats, the lyrics and then down to the general overview of sound production, that song should be able to leave its mark in me. I really love it when artists express a keen level of intelligence in the ur musical conposition and not just hop into the studio to di whatever they like.

When I listen to a song, what gets to me first is the beat. I expect the beats of the song to be captivating. As I listen, I unconsciously tap my fingers, sway my head from side to side and even start to hum the tunes. That's it I'm hooked!

Then the lyrics begin to roll in and that's when my ears become itchy. Itchy to understand the message in the words that is being communicated by the artist. I get the chills when the lyrics are dope and clearly understood. I want to get a feel of what makes the artist tick and feel his or her emotions through the lyrics of the song.

There are many genres of music but I am more inclined to pop music and R&b music. This is because they tick the boxes of what I expect in my kind of music. I like rap too but only when the rapper is not cussing someone out.

Bad music

The opposite of all I mentioned above for good music qualifications for me falls in this category. Rough and wild beats, no instrumental synchronizations, unclear lyrics or no lyrics at all and poor general sound production, yuck... that's bad for me. These kind of songs irks me out and I won't even think of having them on my playlist, not even for a million bucks, hehe.

I know we alm have our preferences. What I consider to be bad music might be someone else's good music and I respect that but for the dake of the prompt I would like to give you guys some excerpts into my kind of good music below...do enjoy it.
