Weekend -engagement week 151: My fear and concern about unemployment, job uncertainty and diminishing job prospects.

Honestly i chose to write on this topic because presently in my country everyone are scared about what the future holds for our upcoming graduates because of the rate of unemployment we experience in our country.

Statistics has shown that unemployment rate has increased to 44% in the year 2023 due to poor education, over population, not making good use of our natural resources and agriculture, inflation and bad government.

A friend of mine went for a job interview in a cooperate organization, after spending six good hours for interview she was told that she would be paid thirty thousand Naira which is just sixty six US Dollar, so tell me how can she survive with such pay because she has family, she pays for house rent and she needs to take care of herself.
This is not funny anymore because people are groaning while some who can are migrating to other countries in search of greener pastures.

My findings

It is a very sad situation to see that so many people who leave thier various houses by 4am or 5am in the morning just to meet up to thier different workplace and to close by 6:pm can not afford to pay for a comfortable apartment, some people live under the bridge while others squat with thier friends because they cant afford an apartment for themselves.
We just suffer alot to get a little, the stress increases while the benefit reduces ,this is making mans heart weak.

Currently transportation money in Nigeria has hicked to the extent that after the stress of the day at work one have to spend hours at the bustop before getting a bus that will take you home.
Most organisation offer peanut as salary at the end of every 30 days, after feeding and transportation fair the employee is left with little or nothing, most workers find it very difficult to save money for future because of how little the earning is.

The worse of the whole matter is that things are not getting better, landlords keeps on increasing thier house rent, foodstuffs are becoming more expensive likewise other things but monthly salary is not increasing, sadly some people are unemployed while some are been discharged from the organization they work with because one reason or another

Employers are determined to fraustate thier workers, they place less or no value on them, they have them work overtime without pay or even a word of appreciation and this makes employees find less or no joy in the work they do.
Some employers are so selfish that months will go by but they have not paid thier employees considering the fact that the wages are so small, they don't mind how thier employees cope.

*My concern is the future "

Today is 😞 not good, how will tomorrow be like, we have our upcoming graduates , people are still giving birth but no new job opportunities , no new developments that will create job openings, all this gives me concern because it will lead to more crime, violence, insecurity , health problems and insecurity.

Lets not wait for job opportunities

Entrepreneurship reduces unemployment and provides financial support to individuals.

Yes since job opportunities are not coming forth why not become an entrepreneur, learn a skill, start a mini business, become a boss of yourself.
Thankfully some people have actually done that, with consistency and patience they became wealthy without employment.
I encourage even those who have jobs today to learn skills for themselves because tomorrow is the unknown.

In Nigeria I have meet with some graduates who became food sellers and honestly they are doing so well financially.
Sadly some people do not have the mind of entrepreneur while some have no capital and some to do not have an idea of what exactly and where to start.

Am certain if each one can start something of his own and build it up the rate of unemployment, crime and corruption will reduce and people will enjoy life.

Thank you all, i appreciate @galenkp for this weekend engagement topics.
