My 2022 Christmas

Christmas. This is the time of the year to celebrate, enjoy, and share with the family.

This year, many families could not be together. Many things happened throughout the year and much has changed. In spite of that, we still try to enjoy the little moments we can share with the ones we love, especially at this time of the year.

In my family, Christmas has always been traditional. Coming to grandma's house, having a big dinner all together, opening presents in the morning all together and sharing as a family.

Because of the situation in our country, a large part of our family left, if not all of them. Even the one I least expected, my sister, also had to leave. Since they left, including my grandmother, who has always been the soul of Christmas in our family, things are not the same. In the beginning, it wasn't so difficult. We would go with my aunt Delia and my little cousin Mathias, who are the only ones still here along with my mom and me, and we would share together. Eventually, she started to make her plans, and well, We weren't always part of them.

Eventually, my mom and I turned Christmas into a date for us, since we didn't have much to do. But it was okay. My mom is my home, and if I'm with her, then I'm okay.

For this Christmas we couldn't prepare anything we usually do. We always made hallacas together, cream punch, salad, or pork leg. This year, because of the situation of the country we could not afford those things. My aunt invited us to a Christmas lunch. It was nice.

We came back home and we really didn't know what to do. We went for a walk, took some pictures in a square near my house, came back, watched some movies, and went to sleep.

A few days before, as a Christmas present my uncle sent us some money for me to buy whatever I wanted. I bought a sweater, which I had been waiting for a long time; a pair of jeans, since I don't have many; and some really nice shoes. I liked my outfit.

I also recorded a video for my family, where I play Merry Christmas on the guitar.

Even though it wasn't the most traditional or plentiful Christmas, I had a good time. I was with my mom, talked to my friends for most of the night, and really felt comfortable with what I had. I've never cared about what's under the tree, but who's around it. And with my mom it was more than enough.

That was my Christmas, I look forward to reading what yours was like. I hope you enjoyed it and were with the people you love, be it friends, neighbors or family. And well, Merry Christmas 🎄❤️
