The £400 1984 Mercedes-Benz 230E (W123) Wheeler Dealers. What are they worth now. #5

As you probably realised I am a big fan of Wheeler Dealers and I really want to get into Wheeling and dealing myself.

The 5th car Mike bought for the program, was a 1984 Merc 230E known as W123.

If the W123 had today's name, it would be called the Mercedes E-Class.

They made a few others, but I can't remember much on them, such as ambulance, Herse and an aftermarket company making a soft top.

The W123 came with either Petrol or Diesel engines.
Petrol ranged from a tiny 2.0 4 cylinder. all the way up to the 2.8 Straight 6
Diesel engines ranged from a small 2.0 4 pot to a big 3.0 5 cylinder engine.

They were also available with a few choices of gearboxes

2x 4-speed autos, or a 4/5 speed manual.

1984 230E, which meant it had the M102.980 engine. A 2.3 4 pot with injection.

What needed to be done, within the £1000 budget?

  • The steering box needed replacing
  • A brand new windscreen,
  • replaced and repainted the offside front wing,
  • The sunroof motor needed its fuse replacing,
  • New wipers,
  • Replaced the front bumper metalwork
  • Serviced the car

**How much did the work cost? **
£976.50

** How much did they sell it for?**
£1500 which gave them a profit of £523.50

How much can you buy one for today?
Well, a very cheap one will set you back about £1500, which needs some loving.
They seem to go for about £6-8K Normal
I would say a clean one would go for about £15000, but I have seen one go for £65000!!
