This weekend, I just discovered this English car manufacturer Lola. But it's true that I like cars a lot, especially the design, but I'm not really interested in racing. So that must be the reason why I just saw this car for the first time. Indeed, during the Guikas Collection sale, RM Sotheby's will offer this superb 1967 Lola T70 Mk III Coupé.

History of Lola T70

First, the Lola Cars is a British racing car manufacturer founded in 1958 by Eric Broadley, English engineer and car designer. Lola has shone in multiple championships such as Champ Car, Formula 3000, Endurance. It was also present several years in Formula 1 and especially as a team, MasterCard Lola, during the 1997 season but with only one race to its credit.

The Lola T70 was a racing car developed bproduced in 1965 for American endurance races in three models :

Mk II spyder,
Mk III coupé,
an updated version Mk IIIB.

Less than 100 examples were produced. The Lola T70's main achievement was the two first places during the 24 Hours of Daytona* in 1969 with behind the wheel the American drivers Mark Donohue and Chuck Parsons. But after 1969, the number of cars to be built for homologation was lowered from 50 to 25 examples bringing success to the Porsche 917 or Ferrari 512.

Specification

The Lola T70 is equipped with a 5.4 or 6.2 liter Chevrolet V8 engine. I don't know exactly which engine is installed on this example chassis No.SL73/111. The 5,020 cm3 produces around 493 hp.

Very nice example with this color scheme, red with a white line... Perfect for a race car.
