Hello Cubs, Lions, the APEX Lions & all us wannabees!
Here we are about to say goodbye to 2022 (good riddance at least in my eyes!) and hello hello to 2023.
Accordingly, I have been setting my goals for 2023 🦁
This post details my LEO goals and how I envisage my account growing from 2.8k total LEO today to 15k LP (LION status) by the end of 2023.
My current snapshot showing my 2.5k LP as at 30th December 2023.
I had fully intended on doing my Leo goals. Ever since I got involved in Saturday Savers I had set a goal of 2.5k LP for 2023 which I nailed, and that was only really from growing my LP in the second half of 2022.
So aim high, my mother told me, and aim I am doing, so am aiming to hit 15k LP
It will be a stretch but it will be so worth it!
Starting Point and Assumptions.
So as shown above the starting point is 2.5k Leo Power plus 280 liquid LEO
2023 figures are based on a weekly snapshot from the end of December.
There are five sources of LEO that I have used, HP delegation, Author Rewards, Curation Rewards, Contests and Market.
Figures will be calculated daily and then rolled up to give monthly figures, there will be a monthly 10% increase in activity and delegations/rewards.
Strategy to hit LION status 🦁🦁🦁
I am not going to focus on #lpud Leo Power Up Day.. Yes, I will be entering every month however, my focus is on obtaining LEO so that I do power up, any rewards from entering lpud are not assumed in my strategy.
I took my current powered up total of 2.5k and choose a stretch but attainable target of becoming a LION of 15k LP. This means I need to gain 12.5k LP. I have broken this down per month and included a 10% monthly growth so the figures actually have a meaning behind them.
LEO from Delegations
Currently I delegate 268 HP to @leo.voter
I have been doing this since the week before the First #lpud or Leo Power Up Day.
This earns around 0.717 LEO daily at the moment.
So in keeping with 2023 assumptions, I am assuming that I will grow this by adding an additional 10% to my HP delegation. I might add more delegations if Hive is still on sale in the early part of 2023!
There are many places we can delegate HP and LP to, in order to get LEO dividends.
Author Rewards
These are the rewards I received from my posts which in the case of Leo Finance are posts, threads and comments.
This was the snapshot from my chosen week in December. Hopefully by using a dedicated alt for LeoFinance I can make more posts and comments.
Curation Rewards
These are the rewards for me curating other LeoFinance posts, comments and threads. It is minimal at the moment but hopefully will grow.
I did curate 59 items, so hopefully with new alt this will go up and also the voting mana should never be sitting at 100% either!
Contests
There are many giveaways, guessing contests, writing contests and LEO Finance contests where LEO is given as a prize.
I do intend to publish more from the alt so I think the total of 50 LEO a month is quite conservative!
Market.
The market and my last resort where I will go to buy LEO to ensure that my LION goal is on track!

Thoughts
To hit LION status I need to add 12.5k LP to my current 2.5k LP total.
Ambitious YES Impossible NO
I have based the figures on a week snapshot in December of my main account tengolotodo
In general my LEO rewards are not that great when I post. I am also random when I post, often I will not post for a day or two then want to post two different type of posts.
So to help with this, I have created an alt purely for LeoFinance posts for 2023 and that is @tengolotodo.leoI will curate from both accounts, but gradually move to the leo alt more and more.
If my Author Rewards go up, then my Market buys will come down.
Bottom line is that I do love $LEO as a layer 2 token, and want to really grow my stack!
With the HIVE sale going on, and no sign of it ending anytime soon, now is is a great time to build our LEO and HIVE stacks, and that is what I intend to do!
Lessons Learned in 2022
I reached newborn CUB status, but did not utilise the reward associated with it, check the roles and rewards in .
So I shall use what I am entitled to!Engagement is not key. I have been on Hive for just over a year and was told engage engage and engage some more. All very good thought I, and proceeded to engage like a madman, even winning the Hive Engagemnt League a few times and being in the top three for numerous weeks running.
However this came at a price, there was no way I was able to post every day. I have been engaging more in Discord, and would say it is networking on and off Hive that is important.As I said previously I have created a LEO alt account after seeing how well @ifarmgirl and @ifarmgirl-leo has done. In fact as she knows she really is an inspiration for me and my savings partner @coquicoin it is your turn now. And you too @lhes
With my alt @tengolotodo.leo I will be posting much more crypto content in 2023. I have been in crypto for quite a few years, so would like to post more here. Having a dedicated alt for that, I think will make this possible.

Here's how this Leo Finance contest will work:
- Set a Leo Power goal for 2023.
- Set smaller monthly goals. Take into account post rewards, LPUDs, curation and market buys.
- Create a strategy to achieve your monthly goals.
- Have rainy season strategy and have answers to possible setbacks and obstacles.
- Have a list of to-do things that will help you achieve your short term goals - post 10 times a month, not allow your LeoPower to reach 100%, buy X $leo for LPUD every month, use HBD rewards to grow your stack, and things like that.
The contest post mentions rainy season strategy, well I tend to think of that as my Risk Management.
Having the controls in place will keep me on track to hit my LION goal. The goal being broken down into smaller monthly segments by type will allow me to see where I am falling down or zipping ahead, any correction can then be done.
As a safeguard I will be starting the penny saving of Hive for my LION rainy day fund. IF I have to dip further into the market to get LEO then I will be able to use my HIVE LF rainy day fund.
In life and projects, shit happens and as long as we cater for that, then it will not have a great impact.
My to do list is based on my strategy and having more Leo Finance related activities. Ideally I would like to make 15 posts from my Leo alt per month and a couple of threads daily. Do that and follow my strategy then I will be a LION by the end of 2023!
There we go, my Leo goal for 2023 to become a LION with 15k LP.
You know I love the KISS principle, so just like 2022 when I made a race between HP and LP, I am going to set my HP goal as 15k as well.
Who will win the race to 15k Power... LP or HP (my current HP is 2.9k)
