The Law Of Effection: Power Of Big Numbers

Numbers hold many interesting aspects. The number zero for example is a self-contradictory number that holds a unique position in mathematics. This lies from the fact that it is both nothing and everything at the same time.

Laws are as old as the creation, they've existed since the beginning. Many of them have been discovered already thanks to our curiosity. But I believe there are a plenty few out there that we've not discovered yet.

Man made laws are relatively new. Given our imperfect nature and the dynamics of time, none of them are set on stone and they usually favor a select few to the detriment of the many. That doesn't seem like a good start but we still have to start somewhere. Right?

Now, what do we get when we combine laws and numbers? Well, they're already combined. Numbers are like the skeleton of laws.

However, we can say we get a systemic formula to move from point A to point B based on the law and with the help of numbers. The law in question here is the law of effection which I've rediscovered today.

Background

I was going through my notes to see how far I've come and the progress I've made. When I'm in the process of reading, I usually write down a note anytime I find something that pique my interest or create a light bulb moment in my head.

This note read; The Law of Effection doesn't care about roadmaps or time trades or anything. But the mathematical power of large numbers. Make a giant impact a few times or make a small impact million of times.

It was written in 2019, from reading the book Millionaire Fastlane by MJ Demarco.

Like reading it the first time, I was amazed by the straightforward-ness of this law and how clearly the author puts it. It made a lot of sense to me. And I think it's a good focal point for any entrepreneur who wants to move things fast.

The law of effection declares that the more lives we affect(through scale and/or magnitude), in a cause we direct, the richer we become.

Scale And/Or Magnitude

With scale, we're dealing with a small impact a large number of times. In business terms, a product with a profit margin of $5 sold 50 times is $250 in profits.

If it is 500 times then it is $2,500. 50,000 times gives us $250,000 and 500,000 times will give us $2.5 million. The closer we get to large numbers, the higher the money gets.

With magnitude, we're going for a giant impact a few times. Let's pick a service in this example, $500 in profit will only require selling the service for 5,000 times to make $2.5 million. If the profit is $5,000 then it has dropped to 500 times. With $50,000 it's now only 50 times.

The impact is basically the value we provide. Through scale, we're providing value to a large number of people and through magnitude, we're providing large amounts of value but not necessarily to a large number of people.

Combining both scale and magnitude will be exponential. $25,000,000,000 will be the monetary reward for $50,000 in profit(magnitude) multiplied by 500,000 times(scale). Big numbers can make the mind boggle.

For the law of effection to work for us, we should think about what work we're doing. And ask ourselves how will we be able to increase the magnitude or the scale of the value we provide. Or both.

With the advanced technologies around us nowadays, it is much easier to leverage the power of big numbers.
