I've made it all the way to 10! That’s right, this is the 10th recycling diary. Does anybody else recycle like I do? It’s almost like getting paid to exercise. Show me your receipt. Let’s see your score. I especially want to see what you come up with if you’re in another state.

Recycling GO!
This is the back of my car with the recycling bins and treasures still in it. Some people have their vehicles packed to the rim. I try to imagine where they get it all or how long it takes to collect it.
After I park, I chose my favorite retired trash barrel. I try to get the least damaged and anything that's not supposed to have wheels. The missing wheels and the damaged (missing portions of plastic) barrels weigh less than the original weight written on the sides. Think about it. They get the barrel new or almost new and they take it's weight, write it on the side and establish the new barrel's tare. This is the amount taken away from the weigh-in after we put our recyclables in it. As the barrel gets used pieces fall of or it gets worn down. This lessens the original weight taken when it arrived at the facility and affects my final weigh-in. Probably not too much, but if I have a choice and it's easy to chose, i'll take the barrel that is in the best condition. We can see the tare weight written on the sides, in yellow in the image bellow.
Look, this lady is formulating here strategies now. She not dancing. She has limp possibly from a recycled hip.
"Wait, cans are $1.75?" Does it say that on my receipt?
Look, glass is only 0.11!
I hate collecting glass. I hate the sound, weight, fragility, and the price.
I only take glass when I have my own to recycle or if my regular pile of cans and plastic start getting high enough to make a run.
Before
Glass, I hate it. Stupid noise, stupid payout, but it's there. I'll take it anyway. Topo Chico mineral water in the glass bottle is good, one of the best.
Plastic looks like a lot.

Aluminum looks small, but that's because I stomped on most of it.
As I collect cans, I smash it down to make more room in my various bins.

Glam/Random Stuff
The forklift was busy today. Looks fun to drive and stab stuff.
I thought the forklift was going to punish me for not knowing that the large water bottles don't have a CA redemption value.
This image below shows the colored/unwanted glass. I hate when they dump a bunch of glass into it while I'm around. That smashing glass noise makes me want to ravage something or "get Karen" on anything that moves.
Someone actually dropped off a score board. I wonder if they get scrap money for that. We usually need to separate the various types of metals from complicated items. Maybe they took it for free and then load it up on a different scrap truck.
The REAL Score
I had a can of coconut water. It was a can similar to a soup can. Just one was worth 0.20. I had tossed it in with the aluminum cans thinking it was the same.
The weight attendant removed it held it to the side and then waited by itself and called out, "metal." I learned a valuable lesson. Those cans are worthy of my time/management. On the receipt it's marked "#2 HDPE Large." I have more of these. The next run will be interesting.
$15.27 was my take and I think that's good enough for some tacos or a bowl of phở. Not bad for just walking around and some mild exercise.
