Living in a country with an inflationary economy is like coexisting in a survivor drama. It is a challenge that consumes you minute after minute, that does not let you sleep or relax because, that is, your mind only thinks about accumulating enough money to buy food and pay off debts. The work is multiplied, that is, you have to have at least two jobs with a salary of $20 or $30 a week to half cover the expenses. The scarcity of good job offers and the devaluation of the official Venezuelan currency make everything even worse. This has inevitably turned one of the world's richest countries in mineral resources into one with the poorest quality of life.
Luckily, there are ways to solve the harsh economic crisis that plagues Venezuela. The cryptocurrencies have been a hope for the subsistence of the Venezuelan; Hive, for example, is one of them. It is a form of economic independence that has oxygenated that concern that eats us daily, and even shows us a path to the economic future of the country because, incredible as it may seem, the adoption of cryptocurrencies in Venezuela has become a refuge method for merchants and ordinary citizens. The popularity of Hive, in this sense, is part of this process of evolution.
Now, is Hive a feasible method to generate enough income without the need for an extra job? I will take my own experience as an example. In 2021 I had to quit my job as a civil engineer. When I started writing to Hive it was around 0.80 US cents. By paying for my content I was able to earn about $60 US a week, which is pretty good compared to my previous job where the monthly salary was about $100! So I decided to dedicate myself 100% to creating content on this blockchain, knowing that it could be a risk or a great opportunity.
At that time my monthly expenses corresponded mainly to the payment of services such as the internet, the gym and the rent of the house. Food took up another certain amount of the budget for the month, plus some additional purchases that I made to give myself a few treats that the body always needs. Esto, inevitablemente, ha convertido a uno de los países más ricos del mundo en recursos minerales en uno con la calidad de vida más pobre.
Por suerte, existen formas de solventar la dura crisis económica que azota a Venezuela. Las criptomonedas han sido una esperanza para la subsistencia del venezolano; Hive, por ejemplo, es una de ellas. Es una forma de independencia económica que ha oxigenado esa preocupación que diariamente nos carcome, e incluso nos muestra un camino al futuro económico del país pues, aunque parezca increíble, la adopción de criptomonedas en Venezuela se ha convertido en un método de refugio para comerciantes y ciudadanos comunes. La popularidad de Hive, en este sentido, forma parte de dicho proceso de evolución.
Ahora bien, ¿es Hive un método factible para generar ingresos suficientes sin necesidad de un empleo extra? Tomaré mi propia experiencia como ejemplo. En el año 2021 tuve que abandonar mi trabajo como ingeniero civil, aunque desde entonces ya me dedicaba al blogging sin percibir ingresos suficientes como para suplir mis gastos personales. Para aquel entonces mis gastos mensuales correspondían principalmente al pago de servicios como el internet, el gimnasio y el alquiler de la casa. Los alimentos ocupaban otra cierta cantidad del presupuesto del mes, más algunas compras adicionales que hacía para darme algunos gustitos que el cuerpo siempre necesita. Quiero que presten mucha atención a la siguiente tabla que les voy a presentar con los ingresos conseguidos con la creación de contenido en Hive vs los egresos correspondientes a los pagos a fin de mes.

At that moment I began to have doubts, should I start looking for a job again? I asked myself that question many times with so many predictions of BTC below 10k and an imminent financial collapse. Fortunately BTC was solid at 18k for a while, and that support alleviated my concerns a lot. I have the good habit of saving and that helped me a lot to cover the expenses of the month. I always pay attention to the saying that says: “When there is enough money, save, when there is little, be aware.”.
Although the Hive lowered its price to maintain an average value between 0.30 – 0.50 cents, the perceived gains did not decrease as I imagined. However, the monthly expenses increased due to the high inflation in my country, so the products and services became more expensive. That meant that I had to pay more and that I had to be aware of the use of my income. I received approximately US$30-40 per week from my posting rewards. Even so I could afford a lot.

En ese momento me empezaba a ganar la duda, ¿debía comenzar a buscar otra vez empleo? Me hice esa pregunta muchas veces con tantas predicciones de un BTC por debajo de los 10k y un colapso financiero inminente. Por fortuna BTC se mantuvo sólido en los 18k por un lapso de tiempo, y ese soporte alivió mucho mis preocupaciones. Tengo la buena costumbre de ahorrar y eso me ayudó mucho a solventar los gastos del mes. Siempre le hago caso al refrán que dice: “Cuando hay bastante guarda, cuando hay poquito se consciente”.
Si bien el Hive bajó su precio hasta mantener un valor promedio entre los 0.30 – 0.50 centavos de dólar, las ganancias percibidas no disminuyeron como yo lo imaginé. No obstante, los gastos mensuales aumentaron debido a la alta inflación en mi país, por lo que los productos y servicios se encarecieron. Eso se traducía en que debía pagar más y que debía concientizar el uso de mis ingresos. Semanalmente recibía entre unos treinta o cuarenta dólares estadounidenses aproximadamente por las recompensas de mis publicaciones. Inclusive así podía solventar muchísimo.

Venezuela, however, is once again going through its worst economic indexes, for which reason services and food have become more expensive.

Una disminución considerable debido al inverno cripto. Por otro lado los egresos aumentaron de 115$ a 125$ respectivamente, eso por el encarecimiento de algunos productos alimenticios. En este punto comencé a preocuparme un poco, pues al disponer de mis ahorros para solventar los gastos volvió ese pensamiento de conseguir un trabajo extra. En Hive los pagos por publicaciones varían y no son constantes, es decir, dependen de muchos factores a tomar en cuenta como la calidad del contenido, la curaduría, el compromiso del autor, etc. Afiancé esos términos y elaboré un plan para seguir dedicándome a bloguear en la blockchain buscando estrategias financieras que me permitieran suplir mi situación económica.
Actualmente, con la reciente alza del BTC las esperanzas continúan, por supuesto, yo nunca las he perdido. Sé que Hive es una buena alternativa para alcanzar nuestra libertad financiera porque tiene todos los elementos para ello. ¡Por eso sigo acá! Mis ganancias semanales se mantienen en un promedio de 20$ a 40$ en las mejores semanas, aunque el rango mayormente se mantiene entre los 18$ y 25$. In the last days I have been thinking about using it as a method of entrepreneurship; at this point I think it is worth thinking about it, of course, returning it with the profits obtained from the projected investment that I wish to make. Of course this is just a mere idea while I look for other alternatives.
Good use of our finances at Hive can make a difference. I know that each author receives different rewards and that the earnings are not standard. To be a year old and live economically thanks to Hive, it has been a great experience. I have learned to use strategies to solve the terrible economic crisis that is succumbing to my country, and I know that many other users, to a greater or lesser extent, have also done it.
Thanks to Hive I have achieved my economic independence and even think big. It is profitable? Of course they do, not only financially but also socially. En los últimos días he estado pensando en usarlo como un método de emprendimiento; en este punto creo que vale la pena pensar en ello, por supuesto, retornándolo con las ganancias obtenidas de la proyectada inversión que deseo hacer. Un buen uso de nuestras finanzas en Hive puede hacer la diferencia. Sé que cada autor recibe recompensas diferentes y que las ganancias no son estándares. Para tener un año y vivir económicamente gracias a Hive pues ha sido una gran experiencia. He aprendido a usar estrategias para solventar la terrible crisis económica que sucumbe a mi país, y se que muchos otros usuarios, en mayor o menor medida, también lo han hecho.
Gracias a Hive he logrado mi independencia económica e incluso pensar en grande. ¿Es rentable? Por supuesto que sí, no solo a nivel financiero sino también social.
