Distributed Ledgers, Blockchain Technology, Cryptocurrency. Words that are all synonymous with a new free world. A possible world where the people truly decide and not some glorified centralized puppet or entity that doesn't know a thing about what their supposed to do, or just doesn't care. Decentralized technology enables us to be unchained while being on THE chain. The blockchain that is. That thing build on algorithms connected throughout a ton of nodes. Explaining how all of this works without sounding like a crazy person is a challenge I often have to face. Especially with the less tech savvy. But somehow I manage to pull them through the info. Those who are willing to learn usually get it in the end.
And those who are not willing to learn? Well, I've kind of made it a rule to not confront people with blockchain technology. More so cryptocurrency. The problem lies in trying to sell someone else an idea you believe in. No different then religious people knocking on your door, or scammers trying to swindle you out of your assets. Especially in a developing country, people are already wary of the term cryptocurrency, because of those so called "companies", pyramid schemes would be the appropriate term, or Multi Level Marketing as they like to call it. With the rise in popularity of crypto, with the price of course, these schemes have been popping up left and right, trying to get people to join, so they get their profit at the top of the pyramid.
As much as I want people to embrace blockchain, I think it's something they should want to go into out of their own interest. Instead of me trying to spread the word and looking like a scammer or snake oil salesman in the process. The fact of the matter is that I have nothing to gain from them investing in crypto short term, unlike the ponzi guys. So I just sit back, relax, and let the ones who have their senses peaked come to me.
How do you deal with people who think cryptocurrency as a whole is a scam?
