Another rant on Appics, the blockchain getting milked by a few!

Big selfvotes for a few, crumbs for the rest

Ok, I promise, this is my last post for a while about Appics. But I have to do it. As I like the prospect of what Appics attempts to be, I have serious questions about what is happening right now. And I will probably get another not so happy reply by the @appics account but I don’t care. Something needs to be done about their rewards distribution, and soon.

Right now the distribution is like this:

  • 65 % of the reward goes to the account that posts
  • 25 % is rewarded to the curators
  • 10 % goes to Appics

It is questionable why Appics needs 10 % of every post, bu that’s not my biggest concern. The fact that 65 % goes to the poster, and only 25 % to curation is a huge incentive for self voting and shitposting. I have no real problem with shitposts, I just don’t upvote them. But 50 % curation is just a must to get honest distribution in my opinion.

Look at these posts by @steferretto and @manferretto. In a matter of minutes these posts were self voted and had 60 EUR in rewards. No matter what the content is. These accounts are probably from the same person and are milking the blockchain dry. It reminds me
of the @haejin posts reaping in huge rewards on Steem.

This is not sustainable in the long run and will only make the big accounts huge, and the small ones tiny…

@appics is this the purpose of the app? Honest distribution will make the blockchain a lot more attractive to new users.

Sincerely,
