A Case For Hive - Fixing What's Broken.

In an attempt of finding the right words to begin with, I literally lost a few hours so I've decided to just let it flow.

Without any bias, the goal is to explain why is the World so desperately in need of decentralized protocols as opposed to centrally-controlled projects. To be more specific, why I think decentralized social networks will disrupt the way we communicate and spread value across the World.

Censorship became a new reality, the struggle to raise your concerns regarding important social issues has become controversial. Thinking outside the walls of ignorance, while publicly addressing it makes you a target. Not to even mention that having a political standpoint that doesn't match their criteria can and will get you banned, censored, or simply deleted.

Centrally governed social media is an extended arm of political power that unilaterally gets to decide what's to be heard and what's to be left behind. Imagine the power they hold when they blatantly censored the former US president for speaking against election fraud.

Don't get me wrong, I don't give a shit about either Trump or Biden, however, I do observe how such platforms impact our lives and how little we care. Freedom of speech has become a term that doesn't represent the fundamental right as it's quite restricted. Sure you are free to say whatever you want until you either get censored or jailed. What intrigues me is how easily humans forget historical patterns, while simultaneously repeating that famous quote "Historia est Magistra vitae"

PROBLEM

Censorship

I have never been an influencer, neither I have any tendencies of becoming one, however, I do understand what it implies to build an online audience and make a sustainable living out of it. It takes years of consistency to be shut down in a matter of seconds.

It's not only hypothetically the worst scenario, it actually happens on an everyday basis.

Just imagine the level of frustration people went through due to violations of terms of services HAHA. Like, fuck them!
Everything you've worked for is gone and there's little you can do about it. We have witnessed a lot of crypto channels being banned without further notice, and where the Crypto Community had to intervene and call out @teamyoutube for such actions.

Making a case even more straightforward, centralized platforms allow themselves to take 40% of the profit made by YOUR content and supported by YOUR audience. If you can't see hypocrisy then you should go fuck yourself. It's no wonder why the world went mad when one entity dictate what you consume. If there's no place for a constructive conversation democracy failed to deliver.

The deeper you dig the darker it gets.

Social Data Mining

Oh boy, here comes the interesting part.

So, in case you haven't been living under a rock, you must have heard about the controversy regarding data exploitation and online targeting that allowed different companies to take leverage of.

To be more specific, the firm know as Cambridge Analytica gathered data points of every American in an attempt of making a profile prior to its behavior, thus sold it on the opened market directly usurping our privacy. In essence, they manipulated our behavior in a profound and disgusting manner. Yet again, the world stays blind.

Not to even mention how many times I realized that there's a pattern of ads regardless of the app I use. Start paying attention to these things. We are not a product, and every time we get outplayed we are giving away a part of our sovereignty. The need for a decentralized consensus mechanism will skyrocket in a matter of months.

Power

Yep, Tech giants have a tremendous amount of power. To raise awareness of potential dangers is not easy, especially when you have to utilize their platform to spread the word - which is kinda logical tbh. Now you can easily get a grasp of how fucked the situation actually is. The problem gets even worse once the state starts intervening. The only thing they need is a court order and your entier privacy is compromised.

Start thinking about it.

Migrating from one centralized platform to another is just dumb. There's no difference, and no one can guarantee that their TOS wont change. God...

The Solution.

It's quite simple, a decentralized protocol such as Hive is the next big thing. Its ability to address and solve most of the problems we're facing prior to centralization and censorship makes it extremely valuable.

Despite often being overlooked, Hive is a great place to start building. Think of it as something that's about to experience continuous growth as a direct result of the market demand. We are not there yet, but we are surely going for it.

Not only it's transparent, decentralized, and robust, it actually has superior technology and a strong community ready to support anyone with a vision. I have been vocal about it on Twitter for the last few months, it's just a matter of time when a place like Hive starts gaining attention.

While far from being perfect, Hive has literally everything one project needs to get started.

In terms of the user experience, there's a lot of work left, however, the fundamentals are are what matters, it can easily get upgraded.

It is the tool that will be used by everyone who's sick of being told what to do, how to feel, and what to speak. Freedom of speech is our fundamental, constitutional right, and if there's someone trying to usurp it, I think it's time to kick them out.

We have never had such abilities, just stop for a second and think about what can be done via tokenomics if executed properly. Once you understand what it means, the unique value pros for your project are beyond what web 2.0 apps have to provide.

Just a little research and boom, you're on top of the world.
