I know that most posts here are geared towards the financial and investment roles of the blockchain, but for this post, I would like to raise awareness of an investment strategy that you may, or may not have thought of.

Recently, I began to make posts that contain information outside of the regular vacation, photography, music posts, and general feeling good about life posts that I would normally make. One that I think everyone, no matter who they are, should read is called "It is time to have a talk," and you should read it too. No really, please do it now. The reason I chose to do this is the same reason I am making this post now. To put it simply, if you are aware of world events in any way, you should be feeling some bit of apprehension about what the future holds. I am not going to discuss politics here, however, I am going to discuss some basic things that you should, in my opinion, be considering. Natural disasters, lockdowns, protests, riots, fires, earthquakes, and any number of other things are happening at any given moment in our world today. What I mean to say here is, you need to be thinking about what are you doing to be ready for what seems to be an almost inevitable interruption of services that seems to be coming to just about everyone in some way in the near future.

Water Agua
In my basement, I have four forty-gallon food-grade barrels full of treated water. Important to have with this is a small pump to retrieve the water. Look, you cannot count on having clean drinking water, and you have to have more than a few gallons, it is something you really should consider.

I know, you likely thought the next section would be fuel, and yes that is important, but the most important thing to have after food, water, and shelter, is information that is not dependent on anything but your eyes. That means books, and one of the best to have in my opinion is pictured above. Back to Basics walks you through everything needed to survive on raw land. It will even help you realize that as far as fuel goes, hydrocarbons are not a long-term solution for self-sufficiency. For example, we have a generator, and enough gas to run it long enough to preserve the meat we have in our freezer. We also have a two-burner propane stove with three twenty-pound gas cylinders. Should our power go out, we would run the generator and the stove at the same time, and would bottle can as much of the meat as we could with the fuel we have in the pressure canner. My point here is should the internet or power go out where you live for whatever reason, how would you learn the new skills you would need to survive?

Look, I am not trying to be the doom and gloom guy here, or (proudly) wear the Tin Foil Hat, but, if you did not take the time to read the post I referred you to earlier, you really should, you can read it again here. I am sorry, but I am not sorry, you know? I only share these thoughts because I truly care, and maybe I can be that guy that gets someone to think about some things that in my opinion, they likely should. Again, Hive at least offers a person the opportunity to be exposed to opinions that may differ from their own.
