Getting the BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK in SPS AIRDROP points

cover photo.png

We will be taking a closer look on SPS airdrop points, and determine which in-game asset gives the most bang (SPS airdrop points) for the buck for increasing airdrop points. All of the prices mentioned in this are based on the market rate as of writing. Expect adjustments in calculations and ranking to be made in the future, should a drastic spike or drop in price of these assets occur. Feel free to skip on the last part to see the summary of which assets are the most cost-efficient to acquire for SPS airdrop points.

From Splintershards whitepaper

As you can see in the image above, various Splinterlands in-game assets yield different airdrop points. Let us now take a closer look which in-game assets are good to acquire if our main objective is to increase our SPS airdrop points in the most cost-efficient manner.

Note: Assets that are not available in Hive Engine or in the Splinterlands market are not included in this article.

DEC Tokens and DEC in Liquidity Pools

DEC price in Hive Engine as of writing

At the current price of Dark Energy Crystals (DEC), you can get 102 DEC for each dollar spent. This is definitely lower compared to the previous weeks, given the significant uptick in DEC prices. At a 1:1 DEC : airdrop points ratio, this gives us 101.6 airdrop points for each dollar spent on buying DEC.

DEC in Liqudiity Pools

For computing the airdrop points per USD spent, DEC in Liquidity pools also have the same value given that you will need an equal value of DEC and the corresponding pair token.

Example:
If you are planning to provide liquidity in the DEC-HIVE pair in TribalDex, and you have $100 worth of DEC. You will also need $100 worth of HIVE to add to the DEC-HIVE diesel pool.

The main advantage of DEC liquidity pools for SPS airdrop points is, if you have conviction that the corresponding pair token's price will go up (or DEC's price will go down), you will end up with more DEC. However, the opposite is also true/ If DEC's price goes up relative to the pair token's movement, you will end up with less DEC.

Untamed

Among the three booster packs available in Hive Engine, Untamed gives the least airdrop points per dollar spent. With the price of $47.45 and 600 airdrop points per Untamed Booster pack, you will only get 13 airdrop points per USD spent.

You can buy a single plot of land in Hive Engine for $501. Holding a plot of land will give you 10,000 SPS airdrop points for each land held. This brings gives us 20 airdrop points per dollar spent on land.

Splintertalk Tokens (SPT)

image.png
SPT price in Hive Engine

Splintertalk Tokens can also be bought in Hive Engine. As of writing, SPT is priced at $0.0097 per SPT token. Buying a dollar worth will give you 103 SPT tokens. SPT gives 0.25 airdrop points, yielding as a total of 26 SPS airdrop points per dollar spent on SPT.

Card Skins (C/R/E/L)

image.png
Card skins set price with 1% guild discount

Buying separate skins is cost-inefficient for SPS airdrop points. For this post, we will only consider the cost-benefit of buying a Splinterstorms Rare set given that it gives the most airdrop points in Card Skins.

Buying a Rare Set that contains 23 card skins costs 57,000 DEC (assuming you don't have guild discount). One Rare Card skin gives 2,500 SPS airdrop points. This gives us a total of 57,500 SPS airdrop points from the entire Splinterstorm Rare Set. All in all, buying a Splinterstorm Rare Set gives us 102.5 SPS Airdrop points per dollar spent.

Totems (C/R/E/L)

image.png
Rare Totem price in Hive Engine

Due to lack of available data, we will only be using a Rare Totem for our analysis. As of writing, a Rare Totem is listed at $526.41. Based on SPS Whitepaper, holding one Rare Totem will give you 5,000 airdrop points. This brings us to 9.5 airdrop points per dollar spent on Totem.

Card Skins and DEC wins with a bang!

Here is a summary of the Airdrop points per USD for all the in-game assets that we have consider in this post. This table is sorted from best to least cost-efficient (in terms of SPS airdrop points) asset.

Airdrop points per USD spent on each Splinterlands asset

SPLINTERLANDS ASSET
AIRDROP POINTS PER USD
Card Skins (Rare set)
102.5
DEC tokens
101.6
Collection Power
71.4
Splintertalk tokens (SPT)
25.8
Beta pack
23.1
Land Plots
19.9
AZMARE Dice
17.9
Untamed
12.6
Totems - Rare
9.5

As you can see, Card Skins give the best bang for the buck followed by DEC tokens, and Collection Power. The least cost-efficient asset for airdrop points is Rare Totems (possibly due to lack of data as well), followed by Untamed packs and Dice packs. Note that we deliberately did not consider the utility of each in-game asset in this post, as each player would have varying preferences on which asset they would like to acquire for its utility.

A player might prefer to buy more cards and increase its collection power to compete in higher leagues. While another player might prefer to hold a lot of DEC tokens because he/she believes that DEC price will appreciate. Regardless of utility, the main purpose of this post remains the same. This is to provide guidance on which in-game assets give the highest SPS airdrop points per dollar spent on acquiring it.
