Como siempre quiero comenzar adelantando que tocaré detalles importantes de la historia que son relevantes si quieres disfrutar de la experiencia de "Thomas Was Alone" por tu propia cuenta, una experiencia que recomiendo de corazón, es un viaje a través de la vida de Thomas y otros personajes igual de interesantes donde se enfrentan a sus demonios internos guiados por una narrativa que deja ver los matices de las personalidades de cada uno de ellos, dicho viaje como de costumbre, apto para ser superpuesto sobre tus propias experiencias y vivencias y quien sabe, a lo mejor al igual que Thomas logres comprender que lo que haces tiene valor e importancia y puedas verte de una forma más humilde y amable a ti mismo.

El lenguaje ya es subjetivo Comenzamos con fuerza, quiero dejar claro que entiendo que el lenguaje como medio de comunicación es un invento de la sociedad y un constructo social que vino a satisfacer la necesidad de intercambiar ideas y que por ende se vuelve subjetivo por definición, en tanto podemos interpretar de muchas maneras distintas la misma oración (incluso palabra dependiendo del idioma en el que elijas comunicarte), y por esta misma subjetividad tácita no es tan impresionante disociarlo de su concepción original, sin embargo quiero también hacer hincapié en que la mismísima percepción del lenguaje dentro del imaginario colectivo se ha vuelto algo objetivo y con calidad científica dependiendo de a quien le preguntes, tomándolo como un eslabón inamovible de los medios de comunicación modernos, tanto así como para llegar a crear libros enteros explicando los mecanismos y reglas que rigen a la forma correcta de practicar dicho lenguaje (reitero, independientemente del idioma).

	Y para quienes no doblegan su idea de concebir el lenguaje como una ciencia estricta, para que queden satisfechos, que se vean estos símbolos con el mismo valor que el de las mismas letras que construyen estas palabras.

La percepción de la geometría. Ahora si, para entrar en materia del juego (Thomas Was Alone), vamos a analizar los procesos intuitivos que se esconden detrás de la percepción de las formas geométricas en su esencia más primitiva. Sin título-2.jpg

Viendo con ojo crítico se podría interpretar como una figura compuesta de tres ángulos a la izquierda con un círculo a su derecha en un fondo inerte y nada sucediendo. Sin embargo, nuestro ojo primitivo diría algo totalmente distinto, estamos tan acostumbrados a que las formas circulares fluyan de una manera ininterrumpida que lo único que puede representar el triángulo a su lado es un obstáculo o en otras palabras peligro (puntos extra si pensaste más en un desafío que en un peligro)

Escribe en los comentarios que otras interpretaciones le atribuye tu subjetividad a la imagen de arriba, puedo afirmar con certeza que hay tantas interpretaciones de lo que está ocurriendo en la imagen como personas lean esta publicación.

Si bien Thomas Was Alone se comunica con texto para ser coherente con su narrativa, el principal lenguaje que maneja dentro de su aventura deriva de estos conceptos primitivos, el interpretar las distintas formas y como pueden interactuar entre ellas. ¿Las personas son figuras? o ¿Las figuras son personas? Lo que más me gusta de Thomas Was Alone es la libertad de interpretar sus puntos más abstractos como cada uno quiera (o pueda, aunque no sea el código da Vinci requiere sus buenas porciones de pensamiento abstracto para no dejar detalle sin comprender).

-Thomas, representado por esta figura, acorde con su personalidad, es apasionado por eso el color rojo, estable y con los pies bien puestos sobre la tierra por eso una estructura fuerte y estable como las figuras de cuatro lados y cuatro ángulos, sin embargo siente que ha caído tantas veces que ya es un experto haciéndolo es por eso que le queda como anillo al dedo una forma alargada verticalmente. El viaje de Thomas es profundo, adquiere conocimientos y habilidades que ni el mismo sabía que tenía, desarrolla la auto compasión, aprende que no debe ser tan certero consigo mismo, Thomas solía ser un paranoico que le echaba la culpa de todo al destino, al mundo o a cualquier fuerza incontrolable que siempre parecía hacer todo lo posible por arruinarlo a el y sus planes. Como última lección, Thomas aprende que el mundo no está en su contra, si tuviera que destacar algo de su crecimiento sería esto último.

-Chris, por otro lado es más pequeño que Thomas, menos ágil (dentro del juego salta distancias más cortas que Thomas), eso se refleja en su personalidad envidiosa, cree que a Thomas todo le ha venido con facilidad, siente resentimiento por lo que Thomas puede hacer, sin embargo es su amigo y aprenden a trabajar juntos porque entienden que juntos pueden superar obstáculos que podrían parecer imposibles para cada uno.

-Claire, pulcra, auto exigente, prudente, siempre ha creído que es mejor que todos los que la rodean, una figura geométrica estable, un color que transmite equilibrio y tranquilidad, es un poco más grande que los demás personajes en tamaño, esto no es reflejo de su tamaño físico sino de su auto apreciación.

Creo que uno de los momentos más impactantes del juego es cuando Claire se encuentra en su pedestal (en sentido literal y figurado) y va cayendo lentamente, tiene miedo, intenta moverse lentamente en las plataformas para evitar caerse, no puede creerlo, lo niega y se rehúsa, pero su caída es inminente... y cuando por fin se deja caer del último peldaño, se da cuenta que ahí abajo no es tan horroroso como ella creía, no ha muerto, solo debe cambiar de perspectiva para poder apreciar las bondades de estar donde sea que se encuentre. Y como estos, muchos otros personajes con sus matices y personalidades que pueden resultar en aprendizaje significativo para el jugador consciente y atento, dejaré que averigüen los demás por vuestra cuenta.

Es un ejercicio interesante imaginar a las personas como figuras y colores, puedes asociar una simple figura geométrica a la personalidad de alguien, si se te hace difícil acercarte a una persona nueva o estás teniendo problemas con algún conocido puedes crear un nuevo enfoque al imaginarlo con esta simpleza.

El bien mayor. La epítome de las historias y el desarrollo de estos personajes se puede resumir sencillamente en este pensamiento, todo lo que hacemos deja marca y si esa marca representa el bien mayor, para los que están por venir, entonces no estamos perdiendo el tiempo. Creo que Thomas Was Alone tiene mucho que decir y la forma en la que escogió decirlo es igual o más interesante que el mismo mensaje, Thomas Was Alone se disfruta mejor en solitario y en una sola pasada, la experiencia no demora más de tres horas si lo juegas con paciencia y leyendo con detenimiento, interiorizar el mensaje me parece lo más importante de todo y como ya dijo Thomas, Si estás mejorando, no estás perdiendo el tiempo. Although Thomas Was Alone communicates with text to be coherent with his narrative, the main language he handles within his adventure derives from these primitive concepts, interpreting the different forms and how they can interact with each other. Are people figures? o Are the figures people? What I like the most about Thomas Was Alone is the freedom to interpret its most abstract points as each one wants (or can, even if it is not the da Vinci code requires its good portions of abstract thinking so as not to leave detail without understanding).

-Chris , on the other hand, is smaller than Thomas, less agile (in the game he jumps shorter distances than Thomas), this is reflected in his envious personality, he believes that everything has come to Thomas easily, he resents what Thomas can do, yet he is his friend and they learn to work together because they understand that together they can overcome obstacles that might seem impossible for each other.

-Claire , neat, self-demanding, prudent, has always believed that she is better than everyone around her, a stable geometric figure, a color that conveys balance and tranquility, is a little larger than the other characters in size, this is not a reflection of their physical size but of their self-appreciation.

I think one of the most shocking moments in the game is when Claire is on her pedestal (literally and figuratively) and she is falling slowly, she is afraid, she tries to move slowly on the platforms to avoid falling, she cannot believe it, she denies it and refuses, but her fall is imminent ... and when she finally lets herself fall from the last step, she realizes that down there is not as horrible as she thought, You have not died, you just need to change your perspective to appreciate the benefits of being wherever you are.
