Opinion: December 5, 2021. Can Coal Make a Comeback in the United States?

The coal usage has been declining in the United States for the past several years. This is for the push to move away from fossil fuels in general and specially from the ones that pollute the most. However, due to the general increase in energy prices, specially natural gas, this year coal usage has actually increased.

The United States has abundant coal, however, the efforts to "decarbonize" the energy sources are hurting the industry. It is expected this increase in coal demand to be transitory, unless something changes with the push for "green energy". In my opinion any source of energy is good, the effort should be to avoid placing known pollutants in the atmosphere.
