As of 2020, the main source of electricity in the United States was natural gas, with 40% being produced this way. The next source is nuclear fission with 20% of the share. Coal represents 19% of the source of electricity. Petroleum is 1 %.
The remainder 20% of electricity generation comes from renewable sources. This is divided as follows: wind 8.4%, hydroelectric 7.3%, solar 2.3%, biomass 1.4% and geothermal 0.4%
The total electricity production is 4,000 billion KWh.
