Ethereum Berlin update started running on the Ropsten test network

According to the developers of the Ethereum network, the schedule for testing and execution of the next Ethereum Hard Fork, started today on the test networks Ropsten ETH, Goerli, Rinkeby and then will be executed denifiably on April 14, 2021, this according to the statements of Tim Beiko who is currently one of the most visible members of the Ethereum developers' team.

For Beiko the next hard fork of Ethereum is named Hard Fork Berlin, and will run on April 14, 2021 at block height 12,244,000 on the mainnet, however, testing began today Wednesday, March 10 on the Ropsten test network so over the past 24 hours Ethereum node operators have been urged to update the version of the client they run to support the Berlin fork.

In this regard, it is important to emphasize that after the implementation in the Ropsten test network, it is planned to execute the Berlin fork in the Goerli test network on Wednesday, March 17 and in the Rinkeby test network on Wednesday, March 24.

It is expected that go-ethereum (geth) clients should upgrade to version 1.10.1; OpenEthereum (Parity) to 3.2.0; Nethermind to 1.10.31; and Besu to version 21.1.1. It should be noted that Tim Beiko is expected to crystallize a new algorithm for calculating the cost of gas, provide greater security and protect the network against denial of service (DDOS) attacks, create a wrapper or package to facilitate the creation of new types of transactions, and mitigate some of the increases in the cost of gas that will be introduced.

To conclude, it is expected that after the final implementation of the Hard Fork Berlin the price of Ethereum (ETH) could rise after the stabilization of this important update whose main objective seeks to completely change the dynamics of the network's commissions collection.
