I am convinced that the future of the video game industry will be dominated by blockchain-based games, it will take some more time, but the rise will happen.
That's why I look carefully at every new blockchain-based game but unfortunately, due to the limited time I have available, I can't try them all so I have to make choices.
I mainly prefer games created and developed on the Hive blockchain that offer me the opportunity to:
- play and have fun
- publish content on my favorite blockchain (obviously Hive ;)
- promote Hive on other blogging platforms.
In fact, sharing a post about a game developed on Hive outside of Hive is an opportunity to let people know not only the game but also indirectly Hive to those who do not know of its existence.
Dcrops is one of the last games I decided to try and invest in.
Dcrops (https://www.dcrops.com/) is a farming game based on Hive's blockchain.
It is an easy game to play and requires little time to play.
If this is the first time you're hearing about the game of Dcrops you can read a post I wrote earlier where:
- I wrote some tips for new players
- I explained some mechanisms of the game
- I showed my buying strategy related to the cards of the game.
I love nature and this is one of the reasons why I decided to join Dcrops because in the game of Dcrops I play the role of a farmer.
On Dcrops, time is marked by seasons that are the same as in real life (spring, summer, autumn, winter) but last only 15 days.
The summer season has just ended and the autumn season has started and will end in just over 14 days.
My end of season report
In the game of Dcrops there are two reward mechanisms:
- Leaderboard
- Holding Rewards
The Leaderboard has a Reward Pool consisting of a certain amount of CROP tokens (the game's native tokens) that is divided based on the agricultural production obtained by players during each season of the game.
The Holding Rewards section is a ranking that rewards players based on the type and amount of game assets they own.
Until a few days ago, I had been focusing solely on in-game assets (SEED cards and LAND cards) and the rewards correlated to the Leaderboard section of the game.
During the summer season I invested in buying packs of cards to try and get rewards from the Holding Rewards section as well.
My Summer Rewards
The Dcrops game is a relatively young game and is still in an early development phase: the alpha phase.
I would like it if it were possible to review all of the previous season's game results such as ranking, but the History section is still under development.
I hope that the development team of @dcrops will complete this feature as well as I hope that the Quests feature will be made available soon, a feature that has been announced but not yet implemented.
During the summer season I used a total of 59 NFT:
- 18 LAND cards
- 41 SEED cards
From the sale of my farm products, I have earned a number of Shares points of just over 1000 points.
Thanks to the Shares points and my placement on the game's Leaderboard, I earned a reward of 1245 CROP tokens.
Just a few days ago, my CROP POWER score exceeded 20000 points.
A CROP POWER score above 20000 points allows you to receive Holding Rewards from the Dcrops game.
The rewards are daily and are in HIVE tokens.
I've only been over the CROP POWER score for two days and have only received two daily rewards so far.
These rewards will grow in the coming days because the CROP POWER score is an average value relative to 15 days and I purchased 20 packs of cards just a few days ago.

My investment on Dcrops
To date, I have invested in the game of Dcrops 156.56 HIVE:
- 66.18 HIVE: for the purchase of 34 packs of alpha cards (14 opened and 20 to be opened)
- 90.388 HIVE for purchasing cards from the Market section of Dcrops.
I consider all farming games to be primarily investments, so I like to analyze them from a financial perspective.
If I take into consideration only the total value of the rewards received in the last season, my end-of-season reward is equivalent to 1.539% of the invested capital.
A gain (ROI) of 1.539% in 15 days equates to an estimated annual return of just over 36%.
The estimated ROI value I calculated above is decreased from the value calculated in my previous report (72%).
Obviously the 36.94% ROI is an estimated value because it will vary based on:
- the future value of CROP tokens
- future value of HIVE tokens
- the amount of shares points produced by me in a year compared to the amount of shares points produced by other Dcrops players.
- the future value of my CROP POWER score in relation to the score of the other players and to the purchased game assests.
The break-even point
In all investments it is important to calculate the break-even point which is the point where costs and revenues have the same value.
In my strategy in Farming games like Dcrops, in calculating the break-even point I only consider as revenue the rewards obtained and not reinvested and I don't consider the value of the assets I own.
I do not consider the value of all the assets of the game because I want to have an additional margin of safety in relation to the risk factor that can have a farming game.
In this way when I reach the break-even point I will not have any risk associated with the investment and if I decide to abandon the game, in all probability, I can make a nice profit even in the worst case.
I have raised the budget of my investment on Dcrops several times and have decided to increase it further and set it at 200 HIVE.
Even if I'm under the budget that I have allocated to Dcrops I will not invest more HIVE in the immediate future because there are only a few days to the pre-sale of the new collection of cards of Splinterlands (October 18, 2021) and I want to save as much as possible to have a greater possibility of purchase of packs of cards from Splinterlands.
Getting back to the break-even point calculation, I'm still far from reaching it.
So far I've reinvested all the rewards from my gaming activity into buying cards and purchasing Dcrops card packs, so I have yet to accumulate 154.16 HIVE of value from in-game rewards and/or selling game assets.
This season (fall) I have been using all of my LAND card lands and have used a portion of the SEED cards in my possession.
In six days I will harvest my first crop and start earning Shares points.
This season I will have the opportunity to evaluate the gains obtained from the Holding Rewards leaderboard and in my next post I will make a comparison between the rewards of the two reward mechanisms present in the game of Dcrops (Leaderboard and Holding Rewards) to evaluate possible future optimizations and investment strategies.

Dcrops e la fine dell'Estate: Il mio Report e le mie Considerazioni
Dcrops è uno degli ultimi giochi che ho deciso di provare e in cui ho deciso di investire.
Dcrops https://www.dcrops.com/ (Ref.) è un gioco di farming costruito sulla blockchain di Hive.
E' un gioco semplice da giocare e richiede poco tempo da dedicarci.
Se è la prima volta che senti parlare del gioco di Dcrops puoi leggere un post che ho scritto in precedenza in cui:
- ho scritto alcuni consigli per i nuovi giocatori
- ho spiegato alcuni meccanismi del gioco
- ho mostrato la mia strategia di acquisto relativa alle carte del gioco.
Amo la natura e questo è uno dei motivi che mi ha spinto ad iscrivermi su Dcrops perchè nel gioco di Dcrops rivesto il ruolo di un imprenditore agricolo.
Su Dcrops il tempo è scandito dalle stagioni che sono le stesse della vita reale (primavera, estate, autunno, inverno) ma hanno una durata di soli 15 giorni.
E' da poco terminata la stagione estiva ed è iniziata la stagione autunnale che terminerà tra poco più di 14 giorni.
Il mio report di fine stagione
Nel gioco di Dcrops ci sono due meccanismi di ricompense:
- Leaderboard
- Holding Rewards
La Leaderboard ha una Reward Pool costituita da un certo quantitativo di token CROP (i token nativi del gioco) che viene divisa in base alla produzione agricola ottenuta dai giocatori durante ogni stagione del gioco.
La sezione Holding Rewards è una classifica che premia i giocatori in base al tipo e alla quantità di assets del gioco che possiedono.
Fino a pochi giorni fa mi ero concentrato esclusivamente sull'attività di gioco (carte SEED e carte LAND) e sulle ricompense collegate alla sezione Leaderboard del gioco.
Durante la stagione estiva ho investito nell'acquisto di pacchi di carte per cercare di ricevere ricompense anche dalla sezione Holding Rewards.
Le Mie Ricompense Estive
Il gioco di Dcrops è un gioco relativamente giovane ed è ancora in una fase di sviluppo iniziale: la fase alpha.
Mi piacerebbe che fosse possibile rivedere tutti i risultati di gioco della stagione precedente come il posizionamento in classifica ma la sezione History è ancora in fase di sviluppo.
Spero che il team di sviluppo completi questa funzionalità come anche spero che sia resa presto disponibile anche la funzionalità delle Quests, funzionalità che è stata annunciata ma non ancora implementata.
Durante la stagione estiva ho utilizzato un totale di 59 NFT:
- 18 carte LAND
- 41 carte SEED
Dalla vendita dei miei prodotti agricoli ho ottenuto un numero di punti Shares di poco superiore a 1000 punti.
Grazie ai punti Shares e al mio posizionamento nella Leaderboard del gioco ho ottenuto una ricompensa di 1245 token CROP.
Oggi 27 settembre 2021 il valore di 1 token CROP è di 0.00182 HIVE (Highest BID su Hive Engine: https://hive-engine.com/?p=market&t=CROP).
Alla fine della precedente stagione di Dcrops il valore era leggermente superiore: 0.00206 HIVE.
In base al valore attuale dei token CROP il valore della mia ricompensa di fine stagione è di 2.2659 HIVE.
Da pochi giorni il mio punteggio CROP POWER ha superato i 20000 punti.
Un punteggio CROP POWER superiore a 20000 punti permette di ricevere le Holding Rewards del gioco di Dcrops.
Le ricompense sono giornaliere e sono in token HIVE.
Ho superato il punteggio CROP POWER da solo due giorni e ho ricevuto solo due ricompense giornaliere fino ad ora.
Queste ricompense cresceranno nei prossimi giorni perchè il punteggio CROP POWER è un valore medio relativo a 15 giorni e io ho acquistato 20 pacchi di carte solo pochi giorni fa.

Il mio investimento su Dcrops
Fino ad oggi ho investito nel gioco di Dcrops 156.56 HIVE:
- 66.18 HIVE: per l'acquisto di 34 pacchi di carte alpha (14 aperti e 20 da aprire)
- 90.388 HIVE per l'acquisto di carte dalla sezione Market di Dcrops.
Considero tutti i giochi di farming principalmente degli investimenti e quindi mi piace analizzarli dal punto di vista finanziario.
Se prendo in esame solo il totale del valore delle ricompense ricevute nell'ultima stagione conclusa la mia ricompensa di fine stagione equivale al 1.539% del capitale investito.
Un guadagno (ROI) del 1.539% in 15 giorni equivale ad un guadagno annuale stimato di poco superiore al 36%.
Il valore del ROI stimato che ho calcolato sopra è diminuito rispetto al valore calcolato nel mio report precedente (72%).
Ovviamente il ROI del 36% è un valore stimato perchè varierà in base:
- al valore futuro dei token CROP
- valore futuro dei token HIVE
- al quantitativo dei punti Shares prodotti da me in un anno rapportato al quantitativo dei punti Shares prodotti dagli altri giocatori di Dcrops.
- il valore futuro del mio punteggio CROP POWER in rapporto al punteggio degli altri giocatori e agli assests del gioco acquistati.
Il punto di pareggio
In tutti gli investimenti è importante calcolare il punto di pareggio che è il punto in cui i costi e i ricavi hanno lo stesso valore.
Nella mia strategia nei giochi di Farming come Dcrops, nel calcolo del punto di pareggio considero solo come ricavi le ricompense ottenute e non reinvestite e non considero il valore degli assets in mio possesso.
Non considero il valore di tutti gli assets del gioco perchè voglio avere un ulteriore margine di sucurezza in relazione al fattore di rischio che può avere un gioco di farming.
In questo modo quando avrò raggiunto il punto di pareggio non avrò nessun rishio associato all'investimento e se deciderò di abbandonare il gioco, con molta probabilità, potrò fare un bel profitto anche nella peggiore delle ipotesi.
Ho alzato più volte il budget del mio investimento su Dcrops e ho deciso di incrementarlo ulteriormente e di fissarlo a 200 HIVE.
Anche se sono sotto rispetto al budget che ho destinato a Dcrops non investirò nell'immediato altri HIVE perchè mancano pochi giorni alla prevendita della nuova collezione di carte di Splinterlands (18 ottobre 2021) e voglio risparmiare il più possibile per avere una maggiore possibilità di acquisto relativa ai pacchi di carte di Splinterlands.
Ritornando al calcolo del punto di pareggio sono ancora lontano dal raggiungerlo.
Fino ad oggi ho reinvestito tutte le ricompense ottenute dalla mia attività di gioco nell'acquisto di carte e nell'acquisto di pacchi di carte di Dcrops e per questo motivo devo ancora accumulare 154.16 HIVE di valore dalle ricompense del gioco e/o dalla vendita degli assets del gioco.
Nella stagione in corso (autunno) ho utilizzato tutti i terreni delle mie carte LAND e ho utilizzato una parte delle carte SEED in mio possesso.
Fra sei giorni effettuerò il mio primo raccolto e incomincerò a guadagnare punti Shares.
In questa stagione avrò la possibilità di valutare i guadagni ottenuti dalla classifica Holding Rewards e nel mio prossimo post farò un confronto tra le ricompense dei due meccanismi di ricompensa presenti nel gioco di Dcrops (Leaderboard e Holding Rewards) per valutare possibili future ottimizzazioni e strategie di investimento.
