What's good?

Happy Friday guys, hope it's going well for you so far. I'm sitting here drinking my coffee, enjoying some Skywalker OG, and wanted to share a few things with you. I wrote about crypto debit cards yesterday, so feel free to check it out here. I did not include the Fold card for a few reasons I'll explain here. Let's start with Fold App.

The app

First I want to show you Fold App. It's the app you'll use to manage your Fold card, but it's much more than that. Fold app lets you spin a prize wheel once a day, just for having the app. The wheel changes periodically to different sponsors with different prizes. As you can see below, currently you can win up to 1 million Satoshis, or 0.01 BTC. You can also win cashback boosts for you Fold card purchases and other different prizes. It's pretty nice to open up the app once a day and get that dopamine hit from spinning that wheel even if you don't win shit.

In addition to the daily spins, you get spins every time you use your Fold card to make a purchase. So, every time you get that $1 cup of coffee or that $1 pack of rolling papers for your devil's lettuce, you could win 1 BTC. Pretty damn cool. They are even adding more types of spins later in the year.

The app also has a section called Shop where you can purchase gift cards to various retailers through the app. You'll get up to 8% cash back in BTC on gift card purchases! So, if you're planning on making a big Amazon purchase or order a shit ton of flowers from Flowers.com, use the Fold app to buy gift card. I've used it a number of times but I don't buy gift cards very often. Still cool though.

The card

So, the app is cool and all but the Fold card is even cooler. There are 2 versions of the fold card that have different benefits. I currently have the Spin card because I didn't want to pay a $150 fee. You can see a breakdown of the differences here. With the sin card, there is no annual fee. You can get up to 25% cashback on purchases and a 5% boost on Amazon gift cards. Pretty sick. I don't know that I'd recommend the Spin+ card because there aren't a ton of advantages aside from a free upgrade to the Fold credit card when it comes out.

I didn't include the Fold card in my post about crypto debit cards because it's just simply not that. There is no way to spend crypto with it. There is also no way to add money to it with crypto. It is more of a crypto rewards card. You add money to it via bank transfer which takes 1-3 business days at the moment, but they are currently working on an instant load feature. It works just like any other prepaid debit card. The key difference is the cashback, prizes, and discounts. As far as fees, there is a $3.50 ATM fee when using an out of network ATM and a $5 fee if you have no activity in a 12 month period. There is a $21 activation fee when you get the card. Here's what it looks like when you get your cashback and extra spins. The extra spins let you re-spin a transaction that you didn't like.

The Metaverse

This is what really got me excited recently. I saw a tweet from the Fold team that was a very vague announcement. I don't remember the exact tweet, but it pointed to this web page and said that you can earn bitcoin in Augmented Reality. What is AR? Well you might have played Pokemon GO. You walk around and interact with virtual things in the real world. It seems the Fold Metaverse will literally be a game where you walk around and hunt for Bitcoin in augmented reality. Fuckin sick!
