Facebooks Metaverse: The second invention of Second Life

IMG_20160415_125445.jpgWith the "Diem", which does not exist to this day, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg invented Bitcoin for the second time. Apparently such a great success that he is now adding more. This time it should be nothing less than the Internet of the future - Zuckerberg calls the online world he wants to create the "Metaverse".

It is to be built from locations in Europe, which was also the center of the first Avatar world in the network. "Second Life" was a hype that, as the older generation recall, threatened for a short time to suck real life into the net. At least in the media it seemed as if this would soon only be lived by pixel representatives - bsi the phenomenon suddenly disappeared faster than a balloon needs to burst.

For Facebook, a dying giant, this is reason enough to top it up again. For the second second life, 10,000 employees are to be hired in the European Union (EU) over the next five years. According to this, users should be able to exist and communicate in virtual rooms with the help of 3D glasses.

An idea that mankind has been waiting for, but especially the Europe of the EU, which hardly exists on the Internet. "This investment is a vote of confidence in the strength of the European tech industry and the potential of European tech talents," said Facebook, which is badly advertised in Brussels and probably wants to score a few points for snun.

The company has already started testing a new virtual reality app for remote work in the "Metaverse". With the help of a special headset, users should be able to take part in meetings as avatar versions of themselves.

It seems like a thing the world waits for.
