Leo/Hive Search Engine Strategy Could Be Much Better

Web 3.0 = Web 1.05.jpg

Let's pretend for a second that you have no idea what LeoFinance is. You go on Google and you search something and one of the top links happens to be an article from LeoFinance and you click on it.

This is what you show up to. You read the article. Maybe you even look at a comment or two. But then what?

Well, you leave. And if you're like most people and its within the first 5 or 6 times you've ever seen leo, you probably completely forget about it.

Why would you just leave? Well ignoring the fact that most search engine traffic tends to bounce after a few seconds anyway, the few who might have stuck around have literally nothing to draw them in further.

Where's a link to another popular article or a similar article. Where's a thing telling them they can get paid to write and curate. Are we just hoping people will click the logo in the corner and then dive really deep on their own?

Contrast this with any other platform. I don't care if it's a news site, a blog, social media, or a shopping site. You are going to see links to other stuff you might be interested in that is designed to keep you there. To make you feel like there's a treasure trove of stuff you need to know and be a part of.

These sites do this because it works. Attention is valuable because it's hard to acquire and harder to keep. This concept is almost the entire premise of the social layer of hive. So why are we not building in even the most basic functionality to maximize that? To create that? To mine that?

Someone reading one article and leaving lets us celebrate some stats about how much traffic we got from Google but it adds almost nothing to the value of the community, to our value to google who is watching to see if people go deeper once they get here or just leave, the value of our tokens, or the size of our community and following.

Hive is an entirely unique concept to what most people are used to. Not only it is just assumed that everyone here knows everything about it but we also assume that every passerby totally gets it and will be back once crypto winter is over. We need a value proposition people can quickly understand that is presented to them when they show up. A few words to draw them in on every page if they're not logged in.

It wouldn't hurt to then have some quick content people like me can read who have been here for a year and are still unclear on how hive works and who the major players are. A constantly scrolling blog doesn't paint a very full picture.

And then we need to make sure that people who show up have opportunities to see other content. Maybe after a few clicks around they decide they want to know what this paid to curate/write thing is about?

If we aren't willing to market to people when they get here. To say "Hi, we're hive, we have this unique value proposition and by the way, here's some other content you might like!", we should probably not make bringing cold prospects in from search engines a growth strategy. It's not going to get us anywhere.
