We are probably all aware of tipping commands that can be used when commenting on posts in the HIVE ecosystem. Example are; !ALIVE, !PIZZA, !LOLZ, !LADY, !BEER - when used they will award the post holder, or who your comment was replying to, with an amount of their native layer 2 token. For example, using the !ALIVE tipping command will award 0.1 ALIVE.

What I find interesting is that there are a number of tipping commands that award tokens that can in turn be used to generate a passive income ! Now I find that pretty cool. The table below shows some of the commands/tokens that you can do that with:

!ALIVE
The !ALIVE tipping command will payout 0.1 ALIVE. If you stake your ALIVE, you will in turn gain a share of daily payouts from the Alive Tribe of BRO, PGM, DHEDGE and LOLZ.
- @aliveandthriving pays out ALIVEM each Friday,
- @heartbeatonhive which pays out in Hive, HBD and other tokens,
- @lolz.alive for daily payouts in LOLZ,
- @dhedge.alive for daily payouts in DHEDGE tokens (although it may be DVS now)
Those are four pretty darn good options !
!LOLZ
LOLZ is probably one of my fav tipping commands because of the passive income opportunities that come with it. The !LOLZ tip awards 1 LOLZ. And the passive earning with LOLZ defi is pretty cool and works synergistically in two ways via tipping:
- If you stake enough LOLZ, you can then earn passive daily payments in various tokens throughout the week that are generated via their curation rewards (called LOLZ defi dividends),
- You can also delegate some layer 2 tokens to lolz defi that will in turn earn you daily payouts of LOLZ. 3 of those tokens happen to be ALIVE, SLOTHBUZZ and PIMP, which can all be earned via tipping commands. So that means, you can delegate your tipped ALIVE, SLOTHBUZZ and PIMP to LOLZ defi, which in turn will pay you out daily LOLZ, which if then staked will earn you more daily layer 2 token payouts from LOLZ defi - which, includes ALIVE, SLOTHBUZZ and PIMP once per week - aint that great !
!PIZZA
!PIZZA tips award 0.1 PIZZA. If you then stake your PIZZA, it will earn 12% APR paid out daily in PIZZA
!BBH
Using the !BBH command tips 1 BBH. BBH tokens provide weekly drips, each saturday; "If you own 10 or more BBH tokens you got a drip of swap.hive. If you own 5,000 or more BBH tokens you got a drip of swap.hive and the Alive token, and CTP Tokens. If you own 10,000 or more BBH tokens you got a drip of swap.hive, Alive, CTP, and $LEO tokens."
!SLOTH
The !SLOTH tip will send 0.1 SLOTHBUZZ. Slothbuzz can in turn be staked and then delegated to either LOLZ Defi or Dhedge Defi to earn you more of their native tokens. I couldnt find a specific post giving details of the !SLOTH tipping command - but you can find out more about slothbuzz in general here.
!PIMP
This is the one I know the least amount as I dont have enough PIMP tokens to either tip or gain a share of their distribution - but I'm working on it ! The !PIMP command pays out 1 PIMP, and if you are in the top 200 PIMP holders, and or maybe you have to have a certain amount of PIMP, then you will receive tokens various tokens from their distribution - which looks pretty impressive.

DHEDGE
Dhedge also has to be mentioned in all of this. Similar to LOLZ Defi, you can delegate some of these tipping tokens (Alive and slothbuzz) to dhedge to bring in passive incomes - I think in either DHEDGE, although it may be in DVS now. At the time of writing this post, their site that explained it all was down, but this intro post explains some of it.
Others
Its also worth giving a mention to the !MEME command - I could never work out if it gives you a tip of MEME token or not, but if it does, then it absolutely falls into this category, because you can delegate MEME to @lolz.meme and or @meme-curator for passive income.
The !CTP command is also worth a mention. It used to give out payments of CTP, but sadly the tipping bot no longer works, which is a real shame, because CTP can also be delegated to earn a passive income (@lolz.ctp and @ctp-curator, and maybe also @dhedge.ctp but I wasnt able to confirm this latter one)
There are also other tipping commands like !LUV, !HUG, !BEER, !PGM, !LADY and !WINE, which will give a reward of tokens, but I dont think those can in turn be used to earn a passive income. The focus of this post was only on those that can be used to earn a passive income - but thats not to detract from other great tipping commands.

In Summary
As can be seen above there are a number of tipping commands that can be used to tip tokens that can be used to earn a passive income, and of particular interest is that there is some nice synergies with some of those.
Now the tipping is all pretty small beer, but the more you tip, the more tips you tend to receive in return. Over time, it adds up, although lets be realistic, its never going to net you $1000 a month - but every little helps, and LOLZ defi dividends, delegations to Dhedge and the PIMP distribution certainly make it all way more interesting.
I know that there are some hivers that dont like tipping commands, as they can clutter up the comments section in posts - but each to their own. I really like them, but I respect the views of those that dont too.
