Life is beautiful with moments of fun, relaxation, rest, reclining especially with loved ones or with the things we love doing. One of the most common way we catch fun, relaxation as humans is through engagement with sporting activities. The truth is that sports, games has many benefits conferred than just for fun or relaxation, below is five (5) other additional advantages of sports/games:
ā¢ TALENT/FAME: Through engagement with sporting activities, talents are discovered which leads to fame either local, national or at international level. For example, soccer stars like Ronaldinho, Messi, Ronaldo, Kanu Nwakko etc and other reknown stars in many other sports and games were discovered through participation in such sports/games at street level, trials organised by scouts, competitions etc. Their individual talents became global fame through active participation.
ā¢ ECONOMY/NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT: One of the vibrant and promising future of any country is the sports sector. Government of nations that invested heavily in sports sector are the ones who are enjoying the best it can be. This is so because sports sector involved youths mainly at their young to prime age which are the working population of any country. For example, developed nations like USA, UK and others have vital contribution of sports sector to their national economy because of their heavy investment in this sector. The basketball š in USA, the Premier league football ā½ in England are worthy examples. In addition, participation/winning of continental competitions/world sports competitions like African Cup of Nations, UEFA EURO competition, World Cup etc has some economy advantages to participating countries and hosting nation.
NATIONAL/INTERNATIONAL UNITY: One of the proven way to national unity and peace of any nation is that the sports industry/sector. Through sports/games, confict resolution is achieved, differences/biases are removed as sports unify all gender, ethnicity, race, occupation together. A peaceful nation will definitely enjoy vital growth and development which sports industry/sector can facilitate. For example, the local leagues across different sporting activities in different nations fosters national peace and unity with sponsorship deals coming from private/public sectors (locallly or internationally) boosting national economy.
OCCUPATION/JOB: Sports/games has created many job opportunities in all nations of the world and contributes vitally to national economy. Each sports/games has technical crew, coaching crew, facilitators, maintenance officers, health officers etc which all are potential job opportunities for many citizens of that country and even foreigners. Also, those who are into these sports/games like the footballers, the basketballers, the badmitters, the sprint racers etc are all oocupied with these sports and are earning income and living by them.
BODY FITNESS/HEALTH: Whether as a job, as an occupation, for leisure or for any other reason, engagement in sports helps to keep the body fit, enhances lifespan/longevity, rejuvenate the body and helps in rehabilitation of the body systems. This is why it is so good to participate and have a schedule for doing so. A healthy citizen is a productive citizen who is a potential contributor to national growth and development. Healthy citizens are the productive/working citizens who through their engagements contributes to the national economy in their respective industries, businesses etc.
The importance of sports/games can never be overemphasized and it goes beyond a citizen to an entire nation. Sports/games are lucrative and economy boosters. Countries like Brazil, England are tapping hugely from the sports industry/sector and they are better off for it as it boosts their economy, attracts tourist/foreigners to them who all also contributes to their economic fortune.
