... we're used now to MMORPG games which allow players to level up non-stop and don't truly rely on any Game Theory premise in order to stimulate any sort of achievement feeling... subscriptions does the job XD and bored humans do the rest.
Despite the AI situation, I think you had a pretty nice anecdotal situation here. Glad you're stimulating a young human's brain. Your nephew will be different from the herd.
