Time to Start working on 2024 Goals

I can't believe that we are already at the end of 2023 with 2024 less than 30 days away. With this in mind, now is the time to start thinking about what goals you would like to establish for next year to strive toward.

But before you create your 2024 goals, you will need to understand your progress during this past year. By looking at your past progress, you will be better able to create meaningful goals to pursue going forward.

Based on this, I am collecting data so that I can go into creating goals for 2024 that will:

  • be meaningful and relevant to my overall game plan
  • build value to my current assets
  • support the Hive community

Be Meaningful to my overall game plan

This is where I have missed the mark in the past. I believe that just by adding to my overall balances that it would mean something to my overall plan.

To put it bluntly, I am retired and I am not looking to get back into the 9 to 5 rat race of Corporate or even a job that requires me to always be on point all of the time. So for a goal to be meaningful to my overall plan, it cannot require me to act as if I work for someone else. The goal should not tie me to my computer for over half of the day so that I can make progress toward it.

I have spent over half of my life doing what others have been telling me what to do. Now it is my turn to do what I want, when I want.

Be Relevant to my overall game plan

The one that that I have learned over time is that things change. Items become more relevant in your life while others become less relevant. This can happen from month to month or over a far longer period like 5 to 10 years.

While I was working, the skills that I needed to do an excellent job and earn my keep were very relevant. This included creating eye catching presentations, knowing the details of the projects that I was assigned. I would take extra time to study up on how to do what I was assigned to do even better so that I would be successful.

I was in the airline industry which has always been very cyclical. Due to this, there were layoffs almost every year if not every other year. Making sure you were up to date and relevant in the latest trends, data, benchmarks and procedures was a way to ensure you were always relevant in doing the tasks that you were assigned.

Now that I am retired, this has shifted from making sure I am relevant in an industry that I no longer work to what matters most to me now. What I have found since I retired is that I have not yet found just one thing that I want to spend the rest of my doing.

I like technology, specifically blockchain technology, and it interests me very much so that is what currently has meaning and relevance for me.

Build value to my current assets

No longer working means that I must rely on my assets and other passive incomes to support me and provide for my living expenses. One thing that I have found over the years is that the more you grow and build value into you current assets, the more that will be able to support you once you make the decision not to work for someone else anymore.

Due to this, it is extremely important to ensure you assets maintain their value and also grow. Since blockchain technology is a topic that has meaning and relevance for me, it is also where I am focusing my efforts to accumulate assets and build their value.

Support the Hive Community

In line with the other items I have mentioned above, supporting the Hive Community falls right in line with my overall game plan. I have been on Hive over two years and it is a great community that supports those that add value to furthering its cause.

I have got to know lots of community members over these past two years that have helped me along way and I want to continue to provide their projects the support they deserve.

Over the next few weeks, I will be taking all of this into account and trying to create some goals/targets for 2024 that can assist in progressing those items.

Hive Target

There is no way that I can reach 5,000 Hive Power in 2023 but that does not mean that I should stop making progress toward that end. I will continue to pursue accumulating assets so that I will reach that milestone sooner than later.

In connection with that is reaching Dolphin status on Hive. Yes, I know that is just a number and a title that is displayed on your Hive account. But if you really thing about it, this is a way to support the Hive Community which is part of my overall plan. With a larger Hive Power balance, my upvote on others content provides greater rewards for those that I support which in turn keeps supports those projects which hopefully will attract more to the Hive Platform which will start a cycle of support to grow the platform

Know where you are

Knowing where you are starting from is one of the first steps of navigating to where you would like to end up. There are several weeks prior to year end. This is plenty of time to get you data and information together to create informed and solid goals and/or targets for the 2024 year.

This is the same with getting directions to another location. You must first know where you are so that you can start off going toward your intended end point. Otherwise you may be going in circles or end up on the opposite side of the map than where you would really like to be.

Pull your balances and put them into a spreadsheet or at least down on a single piece of paper so that you can get a very good snapshot of what you will be starting with. Identify certain assets to be your focus assets to accumulate over the targeted time period and create milestones along the way to assist you in moving in the direction you would like to go.

EVER FORWARD!!!
