Everyone Sees & Treats Money Differently

source

I know a few people who have fallen out with family members over money and today I head another case where two brothers have not spoken to each other for over a year. This is something I do not understand and I do think it has more with how you are raised and think. Tomorrow he flies out to visit his brother and to bury the hatchet, but that is still a year that has been wasted.

Their argument was to do with inheritance involving 2 houses with one being in Europe and one in South Africa. The one in Europe is deemed to have more value and why one brother is slightly miffed he "missed" out. I do think it is unfair of him to think he should be paid the difference because that is not what the parents would have wanted to see their kids fighting over their will. Jealousy and fighting over money is not something I have ever done and you just move on with your life.

I know another family who are still not talking 20 years after they received their inheritances because one family swindled the other family out entirely. That was slightly different circumstances with the swindlers saying the other family was already well off and they did not need any so they kind of justified this is their eyes.

Some people are more driven with money than others and change when they have it wanting more because enough is never enough. Very sad really when you think about this because they are often the ones you wonder how the hell did they become rich. The chances are they had a lucky break or did a dirty business deal where they benefitted and why they are like they are.

I have always viewed money very differently from most of the people I know because most of my life I had nothing and have slowly been accumulating. When you have nothing you appreciate everything you have and even though I am wealthier now I still feel the same way. I do not judge success on how much money you have, but more on how you spend it if that makes sense. You can tell who has worked for their money and who got lucky along the way through their spending habits or those that don't have wealth and drive a flashy vehicle, but cannot afford it.

I refuse to buy a new car and will always look for a better deal with a low mileage vehicle that is almost new, but half the price. That to me is just going through life not wasting what you have worked hard to achieve. A close family friend is a multi multi millionaire in dollars, but looking at him you would never guess and just looks average because he is not flashy. Money has never changed him and it never will which is a good characteristic to have.
