The long-awaited moment has finally arrived! The Bitcoin halving occurred exactly at block 840,000, in line with what was expected and this inevitably marks a new record for the blockchain.
Block halving events happen every 4 years or 210,000 blocks on Bitcoin blockchain. Bitcoin's initial block reward was 50 BTC. The current block reward is 6.25 BTC, the next block reward will be 3.125 BTC. This lowers the rate at which Bitcoins are generated. The halving is periodic and is programmed into Bitcoin's code
The market, as has already happened in previous events, has shown that it almost never reacts with immediate enthusiasm, but generally proves to be quite flat or declining, as is evident from the trend of the last few days. Indeed, as the market often behaves, when an event is now close to its realization, the whales sell their positions, causing a generic sell-off generated by FUD!
What to expect in the coming months?
After the previous halving, Bitcoin began to perform only after a few months, so we can expect similar behavior for this new cycle too. Some experts confirm new ATHs by the end of this year, the goal now seems to be the long-awaited 100k dollars, and perhaps the price can go even further.
From today, $BTC will be even more scarce and already now, if we think about it carefully, the value of the cryptocurrency is truly incredible. Who would have imagined this 10 years ago?
