Listen when it comes to gig work , gig economy like DoorDash, Ubereats, Uber we have to remember that even though we are independent contractors that receive a 1099, you still are representing yourself as a customer service agent…

One might argue that no we are just logistics we pick up from one location and then we drop off to another location, Now I would have said the same thing in the past Duties are to pick up the order, the restaurant is the one that needs to make sure that it provides everything the customer requested and we just drop off that was it that is our description of a job.

If that was the case what is the point of providing stats as in how many orders you’ve excepted how long it took you to get the order to the customer if you completed it things like that then the customer ranks you right.

All the customer knows at the time is they are ranking you, but in reality for instance DoorDash makes it seem like they are rating the whole process right.

Example: if you’re late the food is cold and it only took you two minutes to get there but you were waiting at the restaurant for say 30 to 45 minutes the customer marks you late or the customer says food was cold… is it really the drivers fault? no of course not so the ranking system really sucks but if you want to succeed in this business you must play by the rules.

You have to provide customer service you need to make sure everything is there need to make sure everything‘s on time if you get to a restaurant and you see that it’s busy you go up to somebody and you say hey I’m picking this order I need to know how long it’s gonna take.,, then if they tell you whatever long it’s gonna take you contact the customer saying “hey I’m here at the restaurant taking a while they are letting me know that it should take 10-15 minutes more”.

Right what this does is gives you a sense of protection because for me if I contact the customer through a text it’s recorded on all ends and my and DoorDash’s end of the customers and if anything does happen that revolves it being late or being cold the customer calls and says hey my food was called customer is pissed, and they rank you bad, Then DoorDash said you cause you and they say hey so it’s so sad through his leg cold and then you say I texted the person they were cool with it so please go ahead and adjust my rating as far as will be late but you go rating is important. Stupid but important.

The reason for this post is to share with you my crappy rating and makes me accountable to raise it higher.
