It will be better at smart contracts than Ethereum and it won't have gas fees :) Hive doesn't have smart contracts. Koinos is an entirely new general purpose blockchain, built from scratch, that developers can use to launch decentralized applications like Hive, Uniswap, Cryptokitties, and Stablecoins all of which can be upgraded without a hardfork.
