This week's story happened now, just now. The day before traveling, I received a forecast alert for an extra-tropical cyclone with the possibility of winds of up to 100 km/h.

The alert from the National Institute of Meteorology was precisely for the area of the coast of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina and the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre, between the 12th and 13th of July, and my flight would arrive in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul around eleven o’clock this Wednesday night -fair.
After reading the warning several times and checking the area that would be hit by the tornado, I had to decide whether to travel or postpone my trip, but I chose to travel anyway. I knew the risk, but I also considered that the airline and the airport would take some action to prevent the flight from taking place under these conditions.
I boarded in Fortaleza, with sun and 31°C, and started the trip to Porto Alegre, with a stopover in Brasília. As soon as we landed in the capital of the Federal District, I accessed Twitter to check real-time updates on the weather in Rio Grande do Sul and all that was said was the tornado.
On the flight to Porto Alegre, Curitiba was a smooth journey, but from the capital of Paraná to the border of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul, the turbulence was intense and continuous.
When weather conditions do not allow landing, the plane returns to the nearest airport and waits for the weather to improve. If the weather does not improve, the flight is canceled and passengers are accommodated in hotels until the next day when another flight is arranged.
Luckily, when approaching the destination, there was no more wind and the rain had stopped. Thus, we managed to stop safely and without difficulty, but the apprehension of the passengers was visible, as well as the relief when arriving at the final destination and being able to go home.

A história desta semana aconteceu agora, agorinha. Um dia antes de viajar, recebi um alerta de previsão de um ciclone extra-tropical com possibilidade de ventos de até 100 km/h.

O alerta do Instituto Nacional de Meteorologia era justamente para a área do litoral gaúcho e catarinense e região metropolitana de Porto Alegre, entre os dias 12 e 13 de julho, e o meu voo chegaria na capital gaúcha por volta das onze horas da noite desta quarta-feira.
Depois de ler várias vezes o aviso e conferir a área que seria atingida pelo tornado, precisava decidir se viajava ou adiava a minha passagem, mas escolhi viajar mesmo assim. Eu sabia do risco, mas também considerei que a companhia aérea e o aeroporto tomariam alguma atitude para evitar que o voo acontecesse nestas condições.
Embarquei em Fortaleza, com sol e 31°C, e comecei a viagem para Porto Alegre, com escala em Brasília. Assim que pousamos na capital do Distrito Federal, acessei o Twitter para conferir as atualizações em tempo real sobre o tempo no Rio Grande do Sul e só se falava no tornado.
No voo com destino à Porto Alegre, até Curitiba foi uma viagem tranquila, mas a partir da capital paranaense até a divisa de Santa Catarina com o Rio Grande do Sul, a turbulência foi intensa e contínua.
Quando as condições climáticas não permitem o pouso, o avião retorna para o aeroporto mais próxima e aguarda pela melhora do tempo. Caso o tempo não melhore, o voo e cancelado e os passageiros são acomodados em hotéis até o dia seguinte quando outro voo é providenciado.
Por sorte, ao se aproximar do destino, não havia mais vento e a chuva havia parado. Assim, conseguimos parar com segurança e sem dificuldade, mas a apreensão dos passageiros era visível, assim como o alívio ao chegar ao destino final e poder ir pra casa.
