The Doors, is a biographical film of the legendary American rock band The Doors, who had musical success in the late 70's, although in this film is given greater prominence to the vocalist Jim MORRISON, from an even more personal perspective of this iconic character of the universal music. This feature film is based on the book Riders on the Storm by John Densmore, who would be the drummer of the band The Doors, also participating in certain scenes of the film as a cameo.

Por otra parte el papel actoral principal del personaje de Jim MORRISON, estuvo a cargo de un actor poco conocido llamado Val KILMER, quien se conocía previamente en otras películas como Willow.

Review

Basically this film shows the development from its beginnings, of how the members met and created the enigmatic band The Doors, to later become known in a very fast way in the rock scene of that time. Although mostly the film shows that understanding of the character of Jim MORRISON, as his way of thinking, his poetic qualities, his lifestyle and somehow the way he transcends his emotions about his life.

It is one of these films that encompasses two elements that for me are very beautiful as art, such as the music, a fundamental incidental part of the film, and of course all the art of visual aesthetics. During the film you can see and hear some of those main musical themes of the band and the development of it.

The film shows Jim MORRISON, as a free spirit character, as he was known in reality, partly shy but with many gifts in writing and poetry, as well as he could also show in certain circumstances his rebellious character, although he was also seen as a psychotic character and very immersed in the world of drugs, a point very criticized by the members of the band, announcing that in reality that is not such an important point of Jim MORRISON's life. Perhaps this is how Oliver STONE wanted to show it, from an approach of how drugs were present in part of the life of this famous singer.

Básicamente esta película muestra el desarrollo desde sus inicios, de cómo los integrantes se conocieron y crearon la enigmática banda The Doors, para que posteriormente se dieran a conocer de la manera muy rápida en la escena del rock de esa época. Aunque mayormente el film muestra esa compresión del personaje de Jim MORRISON, como su manera de pensar, sus cualidades poéticas, su estilo de vida y de cierta forma la manera como trasciende sus emociones con respecto a su vida.

Es de estas películas que abarca dos elementos que para mí son muy hermosos como arte, tal como la música parte incidental fundamental de la cinta cinematográfica y por supuesto todo el arte de lo estético visual. Durante la película se puede ver y escuchar algunos de esos temas musicales principales de la banda y el desarrollo de la misma.

En la película se muestra a Jim MORRISON, como un personaje de espíritu libre, como se conocía en la realidad, en parte tímido pero con muchos dotes en la escritura y la poesía, asi como también podía mostrar en ciertas circunstancias su carácter rebelde, aunque también se le veía como un personaje psicótico y muy sumergido en el mundo de las drogas, punto muy criticado por los integrantes de la banda, anunciando que en realidad eso no es un punto tan importante de sobre la vida de Jim MORRISON. Quizás es así como lo quiso mostrar Oliver STONE, desde un enfoque de como las drogas estuvieron presentes en parte de la vida de este afamado cantante.

As an anecdote of this film, it is said that the rest of the living members of The Doors, upon hearing the vocal interpretation of Val KILMER, came to think that it was the voice of Jim MORRISON himself, this was one of the reasons besides the resemblance for which the casting of the production decided to choose KILMER for this leading role.

Definitivamente este un punto que me llamo la atención, y es como el actor Val KILMER, por su gran parecido a Jim MORRISON y además de la interpretación casi exacta del música, sin duda quizás sea de los mejores papeles interpretados de KILMER, quien tuvo que aprender en varios meses de antelación una lista de canciones de la banda, el carácter y expresiones del personaje. Como anécdota de esta película, se dice que el resto de los integrantes vivos de The Doors, al escuchar la interpretación vocal de Val KILMER, llegaron a pensar que era la voz del mismísimo Jim MORRISON, esta fue una de las razonas además del parecido por lo cual el casting de la producción decidieron escoger a KILMER para este papel protagónico.

Soundtrack
