En un punto de nuestras vidas hemos llegado a pensar como nos veríamos cuando lleguemos a la vejes, una de las edades que para muchos genera pánico y a otros como a mí me genera una aspiración, el miedo en mi caso puede llegar si llego a este punto sin tener nada en la vida, una familia, una casa propia, algún negocio, algo que mantenga mi valor en el tiempo, esta película va de esto, en vez de hablar de una enfermedad que claramente degenera tu vida y tu cordura como lo es el alzhéimer que es lo que sufre nuestro protagonista, habla más que todo de la relación entre la familia cuando se llega a este punto y de cómo seremos capaz de responder antes esto, una película que sin duda fue mi favorita en esta última temporada de premios y que sin duda merece su reseña personal, sin más que añadir empecemos.

Florian Zelle es el director y guionista de esta grandísima película, adaptada de una obra teatro de su misma autoría y llamada de igual manera, contando con las actuaciones de primer renombre como Anthony Hopkins en el papel de “Anthony” y como coprotagonista tenemos a la talentosísima Olivia Colman como “Anne”, en esta historia que nos pone en la piel de Anthony, un señor de una edad muy avanzada con bastante mal carácter de por sí, pero que está degenerando su salud mental, debido a una enfermedad tan triste y deprimente como lo es el Alzheimer, esta película nos lleva a la vida cotidiana de una persona con dicha enfermedad, y como lo afronta su familia, en este caso su hija, que con cada paso de la historia más se desespera por su situación, hasta que vemos el desenlace final que es uno de los más triste que he visto en una película.

El padre es una genialidad de película, es primera vez que veo una cinta que trata una enfermedad tan triste como esta, además de la forma más cruda y realista de los hechos, la película destaca desde un primer minuto con su primicia, que a partir de esta poco a poco construye una trama increíble, la forma como está contada es a través de los ojos del protagonista, a esto se le combina el montaje, en donde el director a pesar de ser su opera prima, pareciera que llevara una carrera consolidada en el cine, la historia va tomando giros en la trama, sumergiendo al espectador en un estado similar a nuestro protagonista, de confusión, agonía y desespero, la cual llega a su climax final de la manera más trágica.

El Alzheimer, como digo es una de las enfermedades mas triste de la humanidad, el hecho de que estés entrando en un estado de demencia que poco a poco te va comiendo tu vida, tanto mentalmente como socialmente da mucho que decir, Anthony Hopkins, para mi una leyenda de Hollywood , logro interpretar este papel a la perfección, en uno que para mi seria de sus mejores trabajos, aquí podemos ver cómo sin tanta exageración y con mucha sutiliza logra darnos una imagen de una persona mayor pasando su etapa de demencia, detalles como cuando pierde el reloj en el comienzo de la película, culpando a la chica que lo cuidaba de haberlo robado, sus actitudes de terco y arrogante, cada día va ahogando en un aire de desesperación a su hija “Olivia Colman” quien realiza el papel de la persona que sufre de estos pesares y que también realiza una excelente labor.

Sin duda una película muy fuerte de ver, ya que durante todo el film sientes el aura de melancolía y tristeza por toda las situaciones que vive nuestro protagonista, pero que recomiendo al mil por ciento, siempre y cuando no estés pasando por una situación triste ya que sin duda es un mensaje muy fuerte, que a mi en mi caso, me da mucho que pensar de cual hubiese sido mi actitud enfrente a esto, felicito a Anthony que si bien no era mi favorito para ganar la estatuilla de los Oscar, es un digno ganador y un claro homenaje a toda la carrera que ha marcado a más de una generación en los cines, sin mas que decir El Padre es una de las mejores películas del 2020, y en mi opinión la mejor; Mi calificación para esta película es de……
